Reviews for "Playing With Letters"

This game is one of the best games I have ever played. I love the difficulty of it and the music, which really added to the creepy atmosphere, I really like the text as well!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks a lot!
I'm very happy to hear that you liked both the music, the atmosphere, and the entire game!

I couldn't HELP but give this a solid five stars.
This game achieves what many movies and books and shows try to accomplish.
It brings you into a false sense of security.
At first you get frustrated with the anagrams, but that a quickly goes away as you literally profile and adapt to this made up monster and you even begin to feel super cocky as you read each dark passage and type away the correct code.
But then,
That heart dropping moment of absolute dread as you realize you've set in stone your own demise by becoming so wrapped up Noel's little game, is utterly fantastic.
I personally don't care about the text or any of that aesthetic appeal.
Personally the simplicity makes it creepier.

I would however recommend more of these, you have a delightfully twisted mind and I adore it.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Sorry for the late reply, I've been a bit busy lately XD

It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed this game enough to review it and it give it 5 stars!
I did indeed try to build this up like a story, not unlike books and movies.
I wanted this game to be very psychological, and that the player would feel like the detective. Even the gender of the detective is not mentioned, so it could be either/all.
Part of the point is indeed that the player gets involved in the game to such an extent that one could make the argument that the only way to win is not to play. Then again, there will be a sequel, so maybe playing was worth it after all? Only time will tell, hehhe.

I'm glad to hear that the text and font didn't bother you, and that you liked the simplicity, as simplicity is what I was going for :3

Thanks a lot for your uplifting review, feralplayer2! :D

Amazing game, difficulty was perfect, the font is about three steps from making me only put four and a half stars, but other than that, perfect game, and perfect secret ending.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks, Gdc249!
Good to hear the difficulty is fine. And yeah, I know about the font, hahha :p
It's great that you liked the secret ending :D

This is a masterpiece! I thoroughly enjoyed this, and shared it with a few people too so that they can experience this! The ending had me in a bind, although it was only difficult because of my overthinking. I loved the secret ending too. Made me feel nervous lol. Looking forward to the sequel. Keep up the great work!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Whoah, thanks a million! Especially much as you shared this with some people :3
Overthinking is often a problem for me as well, so I totally get you XD
It's great to hear that you really enjoyed playing, as well as the story in general. I will do my best to keep up the work ;)

Amazing and really fun to play. Really makes a person use their brain. Loved it, but felt like the font was someone stabbing my eyes over and over again. Still, I don't think the game would've been the same if you didn't use that font, so I'm glad you did.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks a lot, Ha-na!
Yeah, I too have a love hate relationship with the font. Here's a secret. Actually, Noel didn't write the letters by hand. He glued the letters to the letters, wearing gloves, in order to leave no trace.
I'm glad you liked the game :3
