Reviews for "Fridge Runner"

An interesting game, but the same issue as for Badgirlqc, the medals don't seem to work perfectly. I just got the first steps medal, but before:
1) Was playing 100% logged in, since I have "never log off" turned on;
2) Was connected;
3) Playing without ad-block and for example the Welcome medal did not unlock, and it should rather be earned before first steps.
I hope the further ones will work just fine, because it is an interesting thing to play.

TerribleDesign responds:

Hmm... None of my other games have this medal issue. I played a few of the other Stencyljam games, and it seems that they are having medal issues as well. This is looking like a Stencyl specific problem. I had no issue while I was play testing. Yes, "Welcome!" should be the first medal gotten. Really odd that it works for some and not others...

I will look into it, and if I find a solution, I will be sure to update it! As the save file will be the same, when you turn the game on, your times played variable will be the same and thus unlock the medals. :)

Is there any legit way to get the "Play Fridge Runner x amount of times on the same save file" medals? I notice the only people with those medals are yourself and presumably a beta tester.

This game doesn't appear to even have "save files" and reloading the page x amount of times certainly does not award those medals. If it's not obtainable it shouldn't exist as a medal.

As to "Find the Lost Levels" I will assume that is a secret which, nevertheless, can be found somewhere -- I don't know .. never found it myself and I assume you need those Lost Levels to obtain the Dragonrider medal as well, considering reaching and completing level 60 (which seems to be the last level) doesn't award it. So no complaints on those if indeed that's the case.

TerribleDesign responds:

There is a single autosaving game file. It saves after any level is beaten.

Yes, there are more levels after 60. Since you found the level skip cheat and have reached that last level, you already have all you need to get to the lost levels. If you try skipping the lost levels like you can with the previous 60, you will be sent back to the first lost level. Beating the last lost level will give you the dragonrider achievement. Goodluck!

Non of my other games have issues with medals, so go ahead and give those a play!

Simple design and layout. I had trouble coordinating my hops and couldn't get too far.

TerribleDesign responds:

I believe that using bigger blocks with more obvious splits for how high all ledges are will solve most jumping issues in future games. This was not something I considered when making the tile set for this game.

how im supposed to cheat?'

TerribleDesign responds:

It's a puzzle! A social puzzle!
Why not politely ASK someone who has used the cheat how it works? That is an option. :)
Just check under the proper medal, and then shoot them a PM. There are two other people aside from me, and they were not original play testers of the game, so they figured it out all by themselves.

I will say that using the cheat is a two step process. It is also a reference to what people tend to do when they are totally stuck in one of my previous games.

Frustrating. The "stick to walls" mechanic means that you're constantly getting stuck on things when trying to get on and off of ledges, making some jumps needlessly difficult and making it hard to tell whether some high platforms are even reachable. It's sometimes hard to tell where the platforms even are. Considering how important they are, baking soda boxes are too difficult to control, overshooting targets at the slightest touch and sliding into corners. I spent five minutes trying to stack a pair on level 10 and then gave up.

TerribleDesign responds:

There are no frustrating jumps in the first 10 levels. You can HOLD the jump button to increase the height of your jump. Like Mario and several other platformers. If you are just tapping the jump button, you will always have small jumps. That would cause simple jumps to become way too difficult.

Your magnet can jump over 2 and a half blocks with ease. You can not jump over three blocks. 3 blocks are 48 pixels high, and the maximum jump height is 47 pixels high so it is pretty easy to get on two block high platforms.

Level 10 is the first "difficult" puzzle in the game. The good news is that level 11 is easier. Every tenth level is a bit more difficult to separate the six sections of ten levels.
