Reviews for "We're not ants !"

Dragging trails is tad awkward, you have to do it reaaaaally slowly or else there'll be holes on the line and your workers end up going back on forth on the bits of it. The workers themselves get distracted way too often, even with multiple trails guiding them they still get themselves stuck in random places. I'd suggest to make these last much longer, or have an upgrade that could increase their duration.

Pheromone dust is frankly useless as a)there's a noticeable delay between use and b) the attracted workers will ignore trails entirely in favor of the pheromones, setting them off course. The only use I can see so far is to pull them away from approaching spiders on the surface.

There is no explanation on where to get leg/chitin/venom/shiny things. If these are to be acquired from the hunting ground above the ground, you might want to put a note about it somewhere.

I can see this could be a fun little game

plopix responds:

Hello, thanks for feedback.

I may indeed raise the frequency of the trail drawing... About prioritization between trails and pheromones, it depends if the larva is already on a trail or not. I admit that phero is hard to use at the beginning, but it gets handier when you upgrade it.
The best is to use both, you first draw a trail, then attract larvae unto it with a cloud.
For the cloud in fact you can only have one cloud on screen, that's why there a delay, so to avoid speed cheating with repeated dust, but I think I'd rather use a non cumulative speed bonus, and the ability to use as many clouds as you want.

About explanation on leg/chitin/etc, you are right, I'll add something in the instructions about it.

Seems to be a bug where the imagos and submagos won't respawn or the directions are unclear on how to replenish their ranks. Also a speed up button could be something to look into.

plopix responds:

Hello,
Lost subimagos and imagos should spawn again when the queen is in the level, if there is a free nest nearby to create a cocoon. Otherwise it won't spawn, that means you may need to re-create some new nests in new maps to have them respawn faster.
If this is a bug and you have no more imagos and no cocoon creating on nests, do you know in which conditions you lost your imagos ? Was it outside or inside ?

About the speed up button, I've decided not to add one since this game tends to be a realtime idle game. The only way to speed up the game is by buying upgrades (some special skills help in that way too).

Hi there, I see potential fun in this game, but sadly it's too buggy(haha) for me to enjoy. I'd definetly rate it higher, hadn't I just wasted countless ours, and being stuck now because of errors, and If I hadn't seen how much you comment and work on bugfixing, I would have given this 1 star or less.

The most gamebreaking bug for me is the Subimagos/imagos not spawning.
-The version shown in the menu right now is 1.40
-I have 2 imago nests, and 11(13)[*see below] subimago nests
-I checked all queens on the 3 floors I unlocked right now, none of them has any cocoon laying next to them(I guess the grey round things are stones not cocoons? I counted them, and there are more than 15 of those stones laying around, so more than I have nests)
- all 3 queen's pop-ups claim "pop. maxed, build nests"
-sub-/imagos are shown in the hud as 0/2; 0/13
-I upgraded the nest from 11 to 13 and nothing changed, except for the counter going from 0/11 to 0/13
-I also build any kind of nest(except imago) on each of the floors, so being on the wrong floor shouldn't matter(right now I am on floor 1 while typing this +about 15 minutes before that on the other floors)
- also Imagos didn't work since the beginning(e.g. the frist Imago nest never spawned anything, also the 2nd didn't change anything)
- the wierd thing is, that the subimagos worked, but then suddenly stopped working(but I can't recall what I upgraded before that)
- Restarting computer/browser didn't fix this
- please tell me there's a fix for this that doesn't involve clearing the cache/savegame :-)

also some other complaints:
- when I click the subimago nest, I can't unselect it(at least right mouse, and escape didn't work), so I either have to build it or refresh the page.(even going to the main menus didn't unselect it. It means that when I click the subimago nest first and then build worker nest until my ressources are gone, the subimago nest still "sticks" to the cursor, so I actually build a subimago nest once with insufficient food, resulting in a -1800 food count(I was able to remove the "debt" by simply colecting food, and by the way, after this bug I still could produce subimago)
-on the 2nd floor outdoor-level(the one with the spider and the shiny thing in the below right corner), there are about 50 giant armadillobugs at once crawling around, all huddled in the middle at once(it was hard to count since they are all wiggling around. It kind of feels like too much especially since it makes that lvl all laggy.

otherwise, good luck with bugfixing ^^

plopix responds:

Thank you for your report, that's priceless.

One thing though, since it seems to work for some other players, it may be possible that the game is not totally up to date for you if you continue a save game from an older version.
If you have the opportunity to try on a fresh 1.4 save, please let me know if you still encounter the issue.
If you don't want to clear your cache (easily understandable) just try the game on another browser or in private (incognito) mode.

This is a very interesting strategy game. Being an entomology enthusiast (not a researcher, just an enthusiast) I really enjoyed playing it.

Like most idle games, all you do is give general instructions for your workers to carry out their tasks. In this case, the workers are larvae, generated by a big queen of sorts, and they discover useful things, explore by wandering around and take resources back to this big hole in the ground, which is apparently where stock is kept. One awesome thing about this game is how the larvae interact, indirectly, to guide each other: they mostly wander around randomly, but larvae that find something useful will leave pheromone trails behind that will attract the others. The player can also lay down his own pheromone trails for larvae to go to a specific thing he wants them to.

Other tasks that are left to the player are buying upgrades (with the gathered resources) and building new facilities, such as extra queens and other useful larva stuff. It's a very interesting idle game, and certainly a pretty pleasant time waster.

I like the graphics of the larvae and facilities themselves, with their cartoony style and goofy personality, but the scenery itself looks pretty bland, being basically brown squares of different shades spread around a map. The "soundtrack" of the game consists of the main menu title song, which is okay, a few extra menu music pieces, and the playing field itself, at first, seems to have only a simple ambient sound of drops falling in an underground puddles of water... occasionaly, we hear pleasant acoustic guitar music, but it subsides quickly. The outside world has the guitar sound more constantly, but even then, it feels kinda plain.

The greatest problem I found about the game is that it's waaaaay too slow, much slower than it should be. It is very frustrating to get the larvae to dig where you told them to, and it all gets pretty annoying due to their mindless wandering coupled with their slow speed. Also, the pheromone drawing tool sometimes bugs up by closing before I'm done or not allowing me to draw pheromone lines at all for no good reason. Plus, the game gets extremely laggy if I minimize the window for too long, which kind of defeats the purpose of it being an idle game.

Also, you're*, pretty please. I can't stand grammar mistakes (the description).

plopix responds:

Hi, thank you for your review.
About the speed of the game, most updates are made to make the game go faster (faster movements, faster gathering, etc), make sure to upgrade the special skills too, as some speed up the game.
About minimizing the windows, alas I do not have much control over this, it depends on the engine I use, and your browser settings. Nevertheless, you can keep the game from pausing (or slowing, depending on browsers) without tweaking anything on your browser, by playing the game in a new window rather than a new tab, and by not minimizing it (just switch to another window).
Also, like IRL ants, too, the more workers you have, the more the system is effective.

About english problems, I hate grammar mistakes too (in my native language), so thank you for reporting them.

It gave a black screen on star, kinda had to explore with things to understand, and upon writing this it froze switching between tabs.
