Reviews for "Saccharine: a sim date"

By far my favorite sim date that I have ever played. The charming Roccoco theme mixed with the mysterious aura of murder clash perfectly. The art style is beautiful and unique, and this game certainly lives up to the name 'a misleading sim date.' The characters were well developed and believable, and the whole story pieced together so well. Each of the endings genuinely surprised me and pulled at my heartstrings. Not only that, but the functionality of 30 HP per a day added a challenge to the game, making it more engaging. This sim date has earned itself a 5/5 star rating from me.

not great

This was the first game of yours I ever played, the art style in thumbnail drew me in and the beautiful music convinced me to stay. After playing I was left with this impression on me, I had just played a beautiful game with a compelling story line. I had played date sims before and while they made me feel wonderful feeling in the moment, after a while they would fade from my memory but months later I still remembered this, the happy endings that weren't all that happy but made you feel something no other date sim has. I ended up playing the other two games you played and I was just left in awe. I find myself thinking about your games when I'm bored, dozing off in class, or just trying to come up with story ideas for my own writing and comics. Your style is so captivating and memorable that I could say that the three games on here you have are my favorites that I ever played on newgrounds. Now to choose which of your games is my favorite from the three, after long thought and consideration I would have to say Saccharine because 1. it's the first game of yours I played and was the game that really drew me in, 2. unlike your other games there aren't huge obstacles that make the game difficult at times (ex. having to have 15+ of a trait in Adabanas, the monster in Reverie, having to save up HP in reverie to get the weapons then dying because you didn't have time to raise level with the suitors, etc.) 3. Out of all the endings in all the games this game seemed to be the only one that didn't get a happy ending which just makes it sort of special and unique in my eyes. Thank you so much for making your games, they are a true source of inspiration to me and I will look out for any future works you happen to publish.

When Branwen hit Dominicus with a rock, I was so shocked ;w; He's my favorite character ;w;
" And you don't even get a kiss. " /Cry a river/

Her introductory scene has her manipulating a girl into giving up her room. Yikes. Well, at least she's working during her stay.

Why am I getting parts of her back story from conversations? It feels a bit clunky.

The cake selections aren't labeled. I have to guess which is which. The recipes are even more difficult to identify.

In my efforts of raising money for a cake recipe, I died from overworking and had to start over instead of being warned by my aching body as I would in real life.

How old is Ellyn? Is it normal in this kingdom for girls her age to be pursued by grown men?

... ... ...Well. I... can honestly say I wasn't expecting that ending. The whole story is very interesting and unique. You certainly put a lot of work into it. Well done. Still, I think the game would be much improved if the cakes and recipes were labeled.
