Reviews for "_-{A Warm Wind in Avalon}"

I CANT BELIEVE...

...I FORGOT TO REVIEW THIS.

Goodie!

MaestroRage responds:

XD

And I was wondering, did this number change?!

I guess it did! Thanks for the review phoenix! I'm glad you liked it ^^

Simply the best

I'll review this one first because this is my favourite of your songs. This is your BEST SONG EVER. It's simply incredible, I can hardly find suitable words for it. So peaceful, so soothing... and yet grandiose and epic. It makes me want to look at the sky and imagine undescribably beautiful landscapes, warriors in golden armor, huge white-towered cities, all glinting in the sunshine... If the perfect rpg was made, this would have to be in it. Everytime I listen to it it hits me like a freight train. Shockingly wonderful.
There, a vague description of my thoughts. I really mean it, every single word. Salutations to your skills, Maestro. Other reviews coming up too.

MaestroRage responds:

I like this piece a lot too. To be honest this melody came to me after listening to the river sound for about half an hour. I love landscape induced imagery, because they fill me with such a strange and peaceful feeling.

Your imagery suits the piece well, and I appreciated living in it for a while.

I'm glad you like this piece, thank you for the review ^^.

Indeed

I can always count on originality with you. Your pieces never seemed to full of rage to me. Moreover, a bold and powerful feeling, that gives anyone a spirit for combat. A warrior would feel proud to hear this music, even softer ones as this, which can still give the feeling of a warriors pride, for what he has done for his homeland and family.

MaestroRage responds:

hmmm, a very interesting image RainMaster... truly it was not the image I was thinking of, but to see it now, as the seasoned, scarred warrior sitting under a tree, smiling at the land he fought so hard to protect.

yes, truly it is an interesting and inspiring image.

Thank you for the review, the story, and i'm glad you enjoyed it ^^.

Takes me to avalon

although i dont know wxactly where that is....

I thought the whistle-third flute instrument had too much treble and made the part when it came in sound a little grainy. The harps and choir sounded very nice. The melody is featured throughout the entire song but it doesnt diversify as much as it could. For instance give the brass the lead when it comes in and have the woodwind lead drop off.
A little percussion could have gone a long way

MaestroRage responds:

See I was debating with myself if I should have percussion in here. Timpini would make it too... warlike? Snares... well hell no, snares would definately make it too warlike in my opinion, and the only other percussional aspects I considered were tamborine, shakers, triangle, and other non drum/kick/snare attributes. I could be wrong, but I felt adding those really did kinda bleed the piece from it's intended core.

The brass was not given the lead as the tribe in question is more peaceful then battle oriented, not that they are weak, but they are not out to get anybody either, so the flute, being the messenger of peace in this piece, had to prevail.

The diversity issue, that i'll give to you, it's true, I probably could have spent more time adding more counter melodies, or changing the core melody around some more.

Thank you for the honest review though, it's good to hear some critical views, i'm glad you found the song enjoyable ^^.

Avalon.

~Avalon~

That word by itself sounds beautiful, and I think you've done it justice.

I can't wrap my head around this to give constructive criticism, but I do know that it sounds exactly like the title claims. The song isn't perfect, but it is very good. Good work. If you had disgraced the word Avalon I might have punished you.
