Reviews for "Alone: Meditate Existence"

I don't have any idea what's going on, and apparently I've been defeated by a small slope.

I almost got stuck in a wall like others have mentioned, but thankfully I didn't. So I managed to finish the game. I'll tell you now that it's not worth your time unless you're a masochist or come up with a similar system to beat the game like I did. It's really simple but once you figure out you can jump and then hold 'R' to recover. The only problem is that the battery runs out quickly, and there doesn't seem to be a way to refill other than rest houses. It makes the game more of a grind. The 'shift' boosts are very useful but again are very few. They respawn upon reviving.

Flashing colours is a common theme when you get to cutscenes. You can control it, but ultimately, you will lose. There are space invaders which makes the flashing and screen shaking more intense as you play. There's a shooter which when you get hit, you see a face get progressively sadder. Then you need to guide sperm to an egg.

Near the end, you come across people floating above up on platform but they do nothings. Then it goes onto a stage with holes in the ground. Sadly I fell through so I don't know what happens if you manage to get to the end of that stage. After that, you get 100% and find the machine where you pressed the arrow keys, ā€˜Zā€™ and ā€˜Xā€™. You stand on a platform and rise only to disappear. I have no intention of playing again to check for an alternate ending.

'X' is a higher jump and uses up energy in around 3 jumps before only landing on your face. 'Z' is better to conserve energy and can be used with some damage, but it isn't that high a jump. None of this is explained and was figured out through trial and error along with some of the potions.

black harms yourself
red makes you smile
purple makes you faster and maybe jump higher
green heals part of damage
white I don't know

I managed to finish it. It was entirely not worth it.

Typically artsy games will try to convey some sort of meaning though either their story or their mechanics or some combination on both. This game fails on both counts, the rest mechanic serves only to be a nuisance when you have to do it every 2 jumps. The story is disjointed and abstract to the point of being incomprehensible.

The game was an exercise in tedium, managing to be both pretentious and shallow at the same time. It utterly fails to convey any meaning while at the same time being peppered with artsy, psuedo-sexual minigames.

The game's utter failure to teach the player how to play or how its mechanics work means that most players will hit the first large incline and never get past it. The day counter becomes a broken flash object when it tries to pass 999 and then reads 0 for the rest of the game, never mind that the day counter and energy bar seem to have no meaning whatsoever. And then there's the "medicine" which most of the times seems to do nothing, and is too rare to be of any use most of the time.

I generally like to give some constructive advice in reviews, but that depends on there being something good to build upon. Nothing in this game is worthy of praise.

The only notable thing I can say about this game is that it has managed to dethrone Superman 64 for the title of "worst game I have ever played".

I managed to complete it.

It took about two hours of the same painful gameplay consisting of crashing your face into bloody mess, resting on the floor, jumping few times, crashing your face into bloody mess, jumping few times... and so on, for about two hours. Resting doesn't help, much.

In the end, after two hours of gamplay which consiste of jumping across copy/pasted landscape alongside with rare seizure-inducing cutscenes and minigames I managed to find a black gap; and then I jumped into it.

And so, I got 100% connection, straight from the 60~ percents to 100%; Protagonist dude proceeded to ascend into the darkness, and then vanished into nothingness. From that point onward, black screen and no sounds. Controls do not react. Looks like I got my ending.

I guess, in the end, Protagonist Dude managed to get his "Sleep Forever without dreams" thing; unless I missing someting.

No stars. I feel nothing. How this got to the front page? Don't bother, unless you like wasting your time.

I think I understand what you're trying to get across. Life is hard so you should just quit (kill yourself?) The game is made with broken controls that force you to wait. To not include a save function at least for the houses is a mystery.

I did the same thing as Coldest, though probably not nearly as far. I ran and jumped into a wall. Poor game design and a concept that is just too boring to play.
