Reviews for "Hanoka"

Amazing game :) even the ending.
I would have liked to be able to continue game to unlock all upgrades other than that its so nice.
Simple yet amazing game

This game is near perfect, original, fun, and replayable but somethings left:

--------------------endless kind mode (high priority) -------------------------------------:
I got end the game only killed 2 bosses, (diving in high speed with water attack and then luring many bosses (2)) that was frustrating for me because i wanted to unlock all the upgrades and suddendly the game ended and i saw the boss count in 2/4

--------------------More power ups (Mid priority) ----------------------------------------
i loved the grind style of the game, that can be so good if you add more upgrades when you get a new mind state, or maybe skill trees? that maybe can be seen on Hanoka2?

---------------------*the voice is kinda irritating (low priority)--------------------------
Only for me i want to say, the HANOOOOOOOKAAAA and the many japanese phrases takes some of the "relax" of the game! a mute voice button can be great!

TL:DR: i loved the game in 99%, i can ignore all the very minimal flaws, maybe you can do many $$ if this game was on mobile devices! like the flappy bird thing

Interesting, but the fact that the powerup screen on level up vanishes while clicking and there's no indicated or apparent way to open it up again mars your game beyond saving.

That was not exactly soothing, getting more shakrams for... murdering centipede fish demon things.

Here's the thing: Once you get the three arrows, things get really easy. And you can totally grind for it too.

Anyhow, creative idea, great art style, a bit flawed of an execution. Was a breath of fresh air in the shooter genre.

Guy-Unger responds:

It's a bit of a mix of differentEastern philosophies, but the theory behind the game makes sense. If you read the intro, you are told that those spirits are materialzition of your emotitons. You meight think just ignoring them takes care of it, but it piles up. in this game it leads to giving you nightmares, making the ground unfertile. In the acctual phylosophy you have to overcome your fears and other emotions instead of letting them stay and pile up in your body in order to open up your chakras. which can make you more "powerfull". thats what you do here but in a bit different form.

It's a fairly good game, and very impressive for a game made in under 48 hours. The gameplay feels fresh and it's actually quite fun. The art style is interesting, and seems to fit quite well with the overall theme. There are some things that kind of throw me off though. While the voice acting isn't too great, I can let it slide since it doesn't affect the gameplay experience too much.
The controls, however, had a strong tendency to be unresponsive, and that would be a problem to the point of frustration, which I will now deal with before it takes form and terrorizes my village. I want to give this a higher score, but the controls make it quite frustrating, to the point where you almost want to give up completely.

Either way, great job, and best of luck.
