Reviews for "The Valley Rule"

Wow, this game is so fantastic. I absolutly loved all of it from start to finish, sound, gameplay, audio, everything. The only one thing I would say is that the cliff climb was a little too difficult / felt a bit like game mechanic abuse. It seemed like I was being directed away from climbing up because it was so much harder than anything else in the game. That aside I'm totally astounded with how great a job you guys did. Amazing work!

I must say that this was a beautiful game! My experience while playing it was just amazing! I think I loved the character and landscape designs the most! The music was also very pretty, too! In my opinion I thought the noise of the water was very serene, I think that it added that needed touch. Now. Seeing how this is a review this might seem a bit off topic but I'll get back to talking about the game in just a second. Anyway, near the beginning of the game I decided to turn up the volume. I instantly heard a "click clack" whenever my character jumped or moved. I paused for a second, just looking at my avatar, and then said, "is she a horse?" It makes sense, seeing how she has ear-like points on her head and, if you look closely, has a horse type body. So, I just wanted to ask, is she a horse? I don't know if you already covered what animal (I know, not too important) she was but I'm going to ask anyway, just in case. OK, getting back to the topic. So I hope you guys are planning to make a continuation of The Valley Rule. (If you guys haven't already.) Maybe it can be an adventure in which she's outside? Anyway, it was a very beautiful and well-created game for being made in only 72 hours!
I don't know about you but I seem to really enjoy pixel games! Their visual simplicity helps me to focus on the plot and my goal. It's also easier to not get distracted because I'm not busy looking at the insignificant surroundings. Don't get me wrong, I still love detailed games, but a lot of pixel games tend to have very good plots , probably because they can be very easy to create if you know the art technique. In the end Everyone should definitely give this game a try! It didn't get its' four star rating for nothing!
I hope my review helped you guys out! Thank you for reading it! I usually don't work very hard on my reviews but I guess I wanted this one to be "professional". Wow, being "professional" takes a Long time! Anyway, I hope you can enjoy this game as much as I did! Have a nice day!

Raiyumi responds:

Thanks for the review! She's a cat-girl, but I think you're the first person to think she's a horse, haha. :)

it reminds me to fez but is really nice game, i really enjoyed

Excellent design, fantastic tight controls, responsive wall jumping and satisfying finish. Only flaw is, well, it's a little short. And the jumping sound effect can get a little annoying at times.

My my my, first off some tips for newer players: To climb walls faster jump [Hit S or Z] while going upwards with your arrow key, this becomes much easier when you receive the first ability. Don't give up on the game the level of difficulty increases but there is no selected order for you to complete the puzzles so have fun.

About the game; Music and Atmosphere: 10/10 the birds chirping add a zest reminds you that you're still alive.

Background; Amazingly serene.

Controls: Fluid; point to consider a triple jump might dampen the spike in difficulty but I loved the challenge.

Final Thoughts: This had a real Cave Story feel the nostalgia hit me like a truck this was an amazing game and I'd love to see more from you.
