Reviews for "Cathode Raybits"
Overall, solid game.
Positives:
-The theme that you're going for is obviously Mega Man. Not a bad choice at all and it's got good intuitive controls.
-Auto-charge on your gun is a nice little touch. It allows the player to concentrate on other things.
-The music choices are nice. Did I hear a distorted Top Man in one of the levels?
Negatives:
-Difficulty is a bit much in some areas. 1) There are pitfalls everywhere. I think that 95% of my deaths were from pits/ insta-deaths. 2) That 2nd boss in the Fire stage is ridiculous. Thus far, none of my weapon upgrades due enough to warrant a switch from regular shot. Also, the 'miss one minion and you're dead' mechanic of that room is a no-no.
-There's a glitch where you sometimes get caught in out-of-bounds areas on the screen transitions (going into the boss room in Laser stage, I think).
-Knock-back is variable at times. Some times a hit will barely tap you; other times, it makes you jump.
-Weapon upgrades aren't worth using, for the most part. They don't really due enough damage to warrant use.
-Weapon select screen doesn't pause the game. This is kind of a bugger when you need to switch weapons quickly (mainly to the Balloon on platforms), you enter the menu and die while switching weapons. I think that I even moved off of a platform in the middle of a menu at one point.
-Character select screen should have been in a more Mega Man-esque style. That way, you know right away that you need to select a different robot.
In spite of that list of negatives, it really is a solid Mega Man inspired platformer.
Nice job man, i like what you did with it. Cant help but feel like it would feel better with a controller. Does it support that?
nice game, but the jumping is really bad. you can't go right and jump proparly.
