Reviews for "Fishy Waters"

Really nice game,I love it and more please:-) I made it and it is great :-) Nothing more to say:-)

...No thanks.

Picked it up as something new to try, and had fun with it. ...For a bit.

The upside:
Simplicity - You don't need to have a lot of previous instruction to get into the game. This accessibility saves it from being bad, and does give it a casual feel.

The downsides:
Pace - It's way too easy to plow through all of the game in 30 minutes. This is one of the two things that restricts its potential the most. Adding more tiers of upgrades to work through could assist with this issue quite a bit without having to completely re-work the existing upgrade costs. It may demand a wider variety of fish to make this work, so it's not reasonable to suggest an overhaul. Just keep this in mind for future work.

Controls - As I said above, they're simplistic enough to feel casual, but even the easiest controls don't help if the minigame central to the game is unresponsive. My playtime was artificially extended by the repeated instances of the minigame not reading my input. I know it's not my timing issues, since this happened sporadically without me losing focus.

Story - I can't ride you too hard about this because of the casual feel, but two screens of comic after the headache of catching the kraken is...disappointing. Insulting, almost, but then again, there wasn't much room to build on the struggle. Again, can't really ride you for it.

I'd like to give this a higher rating because I can see the genuine effort, but that wouldn't give you an honest view of how it leaves the player. Good luck with your future work, and please keep these few things in mind.

Great game. Love the simplicity of it. Very casual game, that I love. Hope you decide to make a Fishy Waters 2!

Initially I didn't think this game would be any fun at all but I'm glad I played it because it's an absolute gem. Brilliant sound and artwork, incredibly relaxing, and gameplay wasn't stressful or overly challenging in any way. It just oozes ease and enjoyment. I think that this would be a great game to promote to people with depression or anxiety, as I personally found it very easy to just slip into and find my happy place.

Although I think it's perfect as it is, if the author were looking to expand or make changes I would suggest including a little mini-map, different kinds of rods that are better at catching certain kinds of fish, and perhaps even recipes to cook the fish you catch which offer bonuses depending on what you eat such as increased movement speed, super catching ability for 20 seconds etc. Would also be nice to explore some of the surrounding islands in some way, and for a chance to run into a super rare fish (a gold fish, for example. tee hee).

All in all, excellent. 5*

really great game :) <3<3
