Reviews for "You Only Need One"

i liked the funky artwork and also the fact that the music had moments of silence, something rare in most games I've played.

LTPATS responds:

Thanks! I usually have constant looping music in my games, but for this I was using short musical phrases of varying time signatures to go along with the character's journey. It starts with the song in 4/4, then the same in 3/4, after that it's a mini musical phrase in 5/4, then 7/8, 9/8, 11/8 and 13/8 (for all the different numbered characters). Halfway through the final climb it plays the original song, but with altering time signatures every two measures, starting with 3/4 and ending with 13/8. Once you make your leap of faith, the last track plays but with longer notes, giving it the weird squishy feel.

I realize that the stopping / changing music may come across as weird or jarring to some, but I'm glad I experimented with it. Maybe in a future title I'll be able to incorporate the idea even better!

Great overall message, and cute way to portray it C: Just the controls, and some certain jumping parts were tough to do. I'd also recommend doing along with arrow keys, a WASD option since some use that instead most the time .3.;

LTPATS responds:

Thanks for the feedback! Usually I try to have an option for both controls, but some weird bugs happened this time when I tried it and since this was a 1.5 day game I unfortunately didn't get a chance to implement it :(. I'll be sure to have that option in any larger releases!

Beautiful...I felt so elated once i took the leap of faith and the message is brillaint. Very simple but powerful. Great job!

LTPATS responds:

Thank you so much! I was worried that players would take the game too seriously and that the message wouldn't hold, but the responses here are a lot more positive and welcoming than what I've received on other flash portals :).

Its a pretty cute game, controls weren't too bad for a platformer either. I liked the style and it was a neat idea. If you had more time it could be expanded, but not bad for a quick project.

Umm, I fell down to the bottom of the screen at some point, and there was nothing I could do from there. Shouldn't I have lost a life or something and go on with the game?

LTPATS responds:

Sorry about that, definitely wasn't supposed to happen! Do you remember specifically where it occurred?

Also, I noticed that with some of my games players with slower computers tend to experience similar game-breaking bugs, not sure if that was the case in this situation, but if so I'll try and make sure to test for slower computers in the future!

Thank you for the feedback!
