Reviews for "You Only Need One"

While this is by no means any sort of new message the graphics and your use of sound I did find interesting. The controls are decent enough. For a game where one shouldn't really be in a hurry it's no biggie. Not a bad effort for only having 36 hours to do it, but not the best of the 'Games as Art' category.

I expected death and a darker world.

I don't know what it is, but I really like the vibe and atmosphere of this quirky, and funky little game.
The message is basic, yet an important one, and you conveyed it with an abstract audio / visual cocktail that pleases my soul.
It amazes me that some people cannot even begin to grasp anything greater than a painfully sober, linear thought process that is like an invisible cage that keeps them in check from attaining a higher understanding and / or consciousness.
Oh well, more fun for us I suppose :D
Anyway, this is the first game I've played from you, but I'll definitely be checking out your previous submissions and any future ones coming up.
Keep up the great work and don't stop making these abstract gems!

Game is okay, but it's certainly nothing very interesting or new. Sure, there's this whole theme about being yourself, but the gameplay is generic at best.

The graphics are ugly, sorry, they look like they were made in MS Paint in the most lazy way possible. I don't mind pixelated graphics, but these are just outright lazy. I see you tried for psychedelic, but the effect is just not achieved if everything looks like a box and there's no background.

Music is not as good as the "recommended on" text seems to suggest either, sometimes it just sounds outright annoying. Also, the choice of COMIC SAAAAAANS annoys me, greatly.

The greatest part of the game consists of going around a non-challenging, uninteresting scenery getting cussed at by people, and then getting to a place where people are cool, all without interacting with any object, without challenging platforming sections, and without any gameplay incentive whatsoever. Sure, there's supposed to be a message behind all that, but is it too much to ask to convey that message in an actually interesting game?

Sure, I really liked the wordplay with the word "odd" (odd people had odd numbers), and I actually enjoyed that mushroom trampoline thing at the end because of its hilarious effect, and also because it was cool to see something other than plain walking and easy jumping going on in the game. Also, although this game is very flawed, its message speaks directly to me, since I used to be bullied in highschool and then finally met people who understood me in college.

In spite of all its flaws, the game actually managed to entertain me a tad bit.

LTPATS responds:

You were able to appreciate and be mildly entertained by a subjectively flawed and ugly game about the appreciation of subjective flaws. This was the intended player experience.
