The game is great but hard. It does however become a lot easier when you realize you can activate your shield at any time including in between combats.

Awesome game. I have completed it twice.
Also, you should really buff attack and health. 1 extra attack, 1 extra health, they are worth much less than one move.
Let's imagine a level 1 maul, a shield, and a choice between a strength upgrade, a health upgrade, and a move upgrade. Power attacks are far stronger than normal attacks, so let's assume they're facing an enemy with three move, 2 damage per hit, one distance from him enemy first, and 9 health. Suppose he upgrades damage. Power attack now kills enemies in two hits. The enemy will move to him, attack twice, removing the shield, and do 4 damage. If he upgrades damage then he can kill the enemy with a health loss of 6. If he upgrades move then he can charge, attack, retreat and then charge, attack and attack for for a loss of 5 health.
This disparity sharply increases with more move and better mauls. Damage is not built to take into account the power of power attack As such, you should buff damage to offer two extra damage for power attack, not one.
Health is generally effective. More health just means more resources to be lost, and late game they can shred your health. You should modify it to add something useful like health regeneration (e.g. half a heart per turn in combat) or life steal.
love the game its only very hard if you ask me
Thoroughly enjoyable. Hard and good die and play value. Possibly multiplayer would be appealing, dueling out in an arena with no doors ;) Also different character option would be ideal as well with possible weapon preferences or increased damage. I give it a 5 it's fun, love to see more added on or a sequel.
