Reviews for "Particle X"

I played all the way through, and even did the boss twice for both endings. Kinda made me lol on the containment one. :P

I came here from your blog post, so I have to say I'm surprised you weren't able to find a sponsor 2 years ago. The market seems to be drying up on sponsorships, though, so don't feel too bad about it. I'm guessing you probably meant you couldn't find a sponsor willing to pay you more than a few hundred, which is always kinda :/. You just released this though, so I'd definitely encourage you to put adds in it before it spreads too far. You can make some ok money off them and they aren't too intrusive.

The game is pretty fun, and you obviously put a lot into it. :) The powerups and the story kept me playing a lot longer than I normally would have. My only complaint is that the game was a little stretched. It might have been more fun with a few less levels, just so the changes would come a little faster. Other than that, though, I think you should be proud of what you made. It's a lot more in depth than most of my games, haha...

Thanks for the detailed review and criticism!

As far as the sponsorship goes, I had this up on FGL on and off for about 3 months and had ZERO bids. It was a bit soul crushing. I tried emailing a few websites after that and got no response. That's about when I started doing more research into the state of sponsorship and yep, it looked like trying to make half a living from sponsorships wasn't possible anymore.

About the ads, I just gave up on making money on this one. I just want to release it and move on.

Finally, how dare you. Sly is amazing.

that was awesome, literally havent played anything like that. ever. one thing i didnt like was the final boss was SUPER EASY. took almost no effort to beat, but hey, for a mouse avoider boss, not much room there but either way, was still fun

ItsTheAshtray responds:

You're better at that boss part than I am. I still die half the time :(

This was a fun game, an avoider unlike the rest! I appreciate the fact that the levels are all unlocked from the start so you don't need to play any you don't want to play, but I feel no need to skip, though the complexity increases with each level they're still mostly straight forward. Only thing that bugged me a bit was the darkness at the beginning, hard to see the introductory text or navigate the interface before you start playing it. The game's awesome though, and the dialog an appreciated addition. Keep it going!

Awesome! Thanks, and sorry about the darkness. I tested it out on a couple different desktop and laptop monitors and yes, sometimes it is very difficult to see.

Plenty of things I liked, I liked how your fire rate increased as you took damage in Act 3, I liked the creativity and polish you put into a "simple" concept like a mouse avoider game.

But the thing I liked the most of all, was that there was no true "bad" ending.

You leave it up to the player to decide what the true consequences of his/her actions are and you don't just beat us over the head with if we got the "good ending" or not.

The first time I played through, I chose the contain ending because I didn't really feel like the Dr. would be the suicidal glory type. Lo' and behold, Mary and the organization kept up their end of the deal! If they would use the particle to do terrible things, you don't reveal, but I am glad I played your game and I enjoyed every bit of it.

ItsTheAshtray responds:

NICE! You really picked out some cool details like the fire rate increase. It's very satisfying to find that someone truly enjoyed the story, so thanks!

Loved it! :)

spanks!
