Reviews for "Earth Taken"

Great game, easy to play through it and easy to handle controls. Don't really feel like going medal hunting so I keep it like I have it now probably. Only downside I can come up with is that it's fairly short this game. Make a longer campaign if you're planning on a sequel. Had some fun playing.

SeethingSwarm responds:

Thank you! I'm glad you liked the game! Sorry if it was a bit too short. I thought that the length was pretty decent for a flash game, but I'll definitely try to make the game a bit longer for the sequel. Maybe also add a bit more of a replay value to it. Sorry, these games take so much time and effort to make, especially for just one guy, but luckily now that the main game engine is already created, a lot of new things can be added in the next episode. Thanks for the feedback and the 5 stars!

loved the game, nice metro style with aliens, liked the guns and specially the gas masks. Also found a way to kill the boss fast: I used the shotgun (fully upgraded is one shot one alien kill), but then I saw that my survivors were going to the corners, so I changed to flamethrower (also fully upgraded), and I won, with one survivor.
for the sequel, i'd like to fight other enemies, like the government or some apocalyptic nazis (metro), not only aliens. and for last, grabbing enemies from behind should instant-kill or critical.

SeethingSwarm responds:

Awesome! Glad you enjoyed the game :) And yeah the flame thrower is definitely best against the UFO. The sequel will not have nazis, but it will definitely have some more enemies like the government and maybe some other alien creatures or animals. Insta-kill enemies from behind is a good idea! Thanks for the feedback and the 5 stars! :)

Anything regarding saving survivors is impossible, because the AI of the survivors is AWFUL. On mission 5 I had one walk right into a mine and kill himself for no reason right at the end of the level. The survivor AI is terrible, but everything else isn't so bad...

SeethingSwarm responds:

Thanks for the feedback! I have to admit, I really struggled when creating the survivors and they do make a lot of stupid mistakes. The player has to shephard them like sheep a lot of the time. Granted, this was my first attempt at creating dynamic companions, so I'm still pretty proud of them. I will really try to make them a bit smarter in the next episode! Sorry if this was too frustrating! I'm glad you still liked the rest of the game though :)

what i can say? the game is pretty good and Really would like to see you continue this story its pretty good to keep the player going trough the game

Graphics, i like them and sets pretty well the apocalyptic ambient, saucers in backgrounds, burning buildings, everything red and without life. pretty good in mi opinion

Controls: i cant complain they are pretty good and responsive, and the best of all the game dont lags a lot even if you have lot of stuff there, i though would be kinda hard since i though this game would be like WASD + Mouse but not, the game is pretty good and playable with the actual controls i hope you keep it like in the next game.

Gameplay: while is just like nay other shoot n run, this one is pretty entertaining telling you about the story everytime you get to the next level (but wouldnt be so bad like when you meet a survivor said something in a bubble speech) what i would like to see is that interacting with the survivors in shelters telling about something the alien invasion or they life who know. aliens can be pretty easy if you kill them away from you. being near of them mean to take extra damage, weapon upgrades well the most useful ones are the shotgun and the flame trower so i only upgraded these two and never have the need to upgrade my health or my filters.

i dont have troubles with the movements its pretty good, same with the jumping is really nice here. not making you feel like you are a bag of stones trying to fly, and i like that you didnt add a fall damage or a death by fall, i know there many games to keep it "realistic" but in a run and shoot is pretty i always like that if i need to get down quickly or advance quickly i usually drop off and being killed by fall is something i dont like.

AI of your allies is pretty good not a dumb allie that try to kill an enemie being near of them and hitting them with melee like the other shoot and run, also they dont advance if you dont, oh good and thanks so much that saving allies is just optional and if they get killed or you forget them, you can still keep playing and saving them is just only for achievement purposes. in other words: Thanks to not make it frustrating when it comes in allies terms

Overall you have a pretty good game here, and i honestly expect you continue this story is true that there many shoot & games and probably they dont improve or add something new, but yours is a good and interesting one and i think that is enough reason to give us a second part.

SeethingSwarm responds:

Wow, thanks for all the feedback! Much appreciated :) So glad you liked the game and thanks for the 5 stars!

Nice game! Simple and easy to play. I also like the fact that you take your time to respond to comments and reviews that are given to you, even the mean ones! It shows that you care!
:)

SeethingSwarm responds:

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the game! Hehe, I do care and I appreciate almost all of the comments and feedback, especially if it's constructive. Sometimes it's very difficult not to take negative feedback too personally, but when it's constructive negative feedback I can learn from it and it helps a lot. Thanks for the 5 stars!
