@Listen2Reason You do NOT have to buy all the experience upgrades first. I bought the dodge first then health then experience. Signs are to tell you how close you are to the finish. @game BEST GAME EVER!! I love it so much <3 The upgrades is nice and the graphics and gameplay is awesome!
Reviews for "Eastward Quest"
I remember seeing this game on /vg/. I doubt you remember me but I was the Anon that suggested the character name to be West. Finally happy to see it finished. While simple it is a fun game of risk and reward while being somewhat replayable. For the hell of it I did a little test and honestly you don't even need to move your character until the 2nd from last level so any complaints before that point is just from pure laziness, lack of upgrades or both. With that said the last two levels aren't easy to the point where you can finish them without even trying though I never felt the game was unfair. I think the learning curve is quite fair and of course rewarding for those who actually try to play the game while at the same time literately anyone can beat the first three or so stages by simply upgrading when given the chance.
Normally I only give simple games like this 4/5 but you took real care to make sure the game is both easy and challenging while completely balance. I think you honestly deserve 5/5 for taking the time to make sure this game was perfect before release. It doesn't take fancy graphics or a ton of upgrades to make a great game, it just take the Dev caring for his product. That what I base my ratings on. I am kinda hoping you will expand on this idea and make Eastward 2, there is a ton of stuff you could add to it.
Pixelated art and sound were good ! And the atmosphere was amazing. Game without a flaw, balanced and gives pleasurable fun. 5 points well earned for this piece.
Great game, I love the idea of taking an rpg and simplifying it to its bare bones and making it like an on-rails hack and slash. Favorited :)
