Reviews for "Fear Less!"

why oh fuck why do people choose to use 2 random keys on the keyboard for the jump and attack buttons

I find myself constantly pressing the wrong button by mistake and jumping when I should have attacked

also this is another game by a girl who blatantly wants attention, so she makes her avatar the main character, surrounding the character with sickeningly "cute" bullshit

innomin responds:

You can change the controls to any keys in the option menu, but Z and X are standard jump / attack controls in many retro-style games, like Cave Story and the ZSNES emulator.

The main character is not based on either of us, and I don't think we're the ones looking for attention. =P

Well this is certainly a fun little game.

I have to say, first off, I wasn't affected by the optical illusion in play here. Could be that I never identified it.

This is perhaps one of the most simple games on Newgrounds I have found in a long time. The controls are easy and manageable, which really affects the difficulty of the game, going from beginner to expert as you progress. [Especially when landing after a triple jump; can't even count the amount of times I got hit] This right here is gaming at its core.

I found it cute that you chose Death to look like a fox, as well as the three foes you can head hunt as well. The graphics were simple, and I love the feeling of nostalgia they evoke. The girl's expressions were well thought-out, which I think adds to the cuteness of it all, despite it's rather grim premise. Kudos to you.

The music was catchy and well done, and on more than one occasion, I wanted to just bop along to it, even if I was constantly running and slaying animals. I especially love the little parts that sounded reversed, which really added a nice touch to the game and helped convey the feeling of a bad dream or nightmare. You could say it sort of spurred me to get all the medals. Although reversing music may sound weird, given the song, I think you guys pulled it off stupendously.

Overall, the game was very nice, with a simple, achievable goal over time. It had enough appeal to keep me playing, and I shall say it is a gem of a game, truly unique amongst others.

Loved every second of it!

Thanks so much, we really appreciate the glowing review! Some of those 0/5 people were getting to me, but comments like this remind me why we do this. =)

Nice Game. It was, how some say, 'cute'.
Well anyways, a little add-on the the ending thing:
To get the ending get all the medals BUT the medal Sunlight as that is the medal when you GET the ending.
That confused me for a bit and I sat for a while getting to 673m then I finally realized that WAS the ending thing.
Anyways, nice game 5/5.

Really fun, simple game with great animation and music. The only complaint I have is that, when I finally beat Death, I was too busy rolling my eyes and being grumpy that I'd just died to see the moment Death died. ): While I like that you don't see your victory coming, I wish there'd been a slightly longer 'victory' animation, like with her speeding up again and turning around to face him. Then I wouldn't have missed it.

I actually got visually disoriented after playing this game, I think I'm sick or something

innomin responds:

thanks for reminding me to put that in the FAQ. it's an optical illusion that some people are getting when they play for too long, called the 'waterfall effect'. wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_aftereffect

don't worry, it's harmless. =)
