Reviews for "Lucas's Quest Backwards"

The lack of actual music (throughout the beginning of the game) bothers me a lot along with the overall repetition and generic platforming. It felt like a classic retro game with all of the fun parts sucked out of it o_o. I understand this was made for a competition but I felt this could've been improved a bit after.

Played it twice to get both endings. For the violent ending, given that he was capable of violence, why wouldn't he just kill the chovoks before they killed the humans?

StormAlligator responds:

When he was in the ruins, he just wanted to go to the time machine, he wasn't there to kill all the chovoks on earth, just the ones that stood in his way. He had no clue that they'd follow him in the past.

And when the chovoks arrived, he couldn't do anything, he was outnumbered.

When you first get the time machine, the orange guy says, "Hi hi". It should be, "ha ha" .
The non-weapon ending was disappointing, given how in games like this the good karma action would probably be rewarded.

StormAlligator responds:

That was the point, to create an ironic twist. The good for karma choice seems better, and the player expects to be rewarded for it. But it's the "bad" people who win in this story, and from their point of view, this choice was bad. Something that is considered "good" by a group of people is not necessarily "good" for another group of people.

The player can't really guess which choice is better when he has to choose. But on the other hand there is no winning or losing this game, you just get one of two endings. None is better than the other.

Plus, when you make a "karma choice", you're not supposed to expect to be rewarded for it, at least not immediately :)

Story and gameplay are nice, but it could be better.

Make a version without evolution.
