Reviews for "NONDEVICER"

Gets too confusing once you get the both ways ability. I have no idea where to go and its easy to get lost. And the one way only before that felt very gimmick-y. But other than that its a nice little game.

Awesome mechanics and gameplay, but no motivation whatsoever. If it had a decent story (perhaps something like KOLM or VVVV or another kind of existential prison mindfcuk) with good pacing, this would be incredible.

I really liked the game at first. The back and forth made it like an easier-but-still-good version of VVVVVV. Then you got the ability to move both ways, and the "puzzle platformer" turned into "where the hell am I supposed to go this game is too huge." When you get to the red area it gets interesting a bit, but I got stuck in the room with the demon face and gave up. Nice attempt, but keep working.

I love the idea behind it. It's very original, and after a few minutes you get used to it. The gameplay is pretty fun though frustrating at times. I continued on more for the novelty than anything, and found it surprisingly playable after familiarizing myself with the direction changing.

The music is pretty good and fitting and the graphics look decent for the super retro look. Nothing amazing or terrible, though I liked the music much better than the graphics.

I'm afraid I can't score it above 3 stars though because it's pretty broken. My game ended after getting stuck on a save point while pointing the wrong way (after a long drop with many direction changes). This means reloading a save point wouldn't be enough, so I'd have to erase my save data and start all over again. This could have been pretty easily avoided by making the save points have a preset direction, so it's impossible to save into the wrong direction.

I'm sorry you got stuck, someone else pointed that bug out to me and it's fixed now.
Thanks for the review and I'm glad you at least enjoyed the brief bit you played through.

Okay, I've finally given up. I wasn't even that far into the game (10 minutes or so) when I had to give up because it was too frustrating but not in the "fun" way like VVVVVV (a game which I saw you took inspiration from). Also, it was frustrating not because of difficulty but because I had to go back extremely long places to change directions and the controls were WAAAY to stiff. My other criticism is the really bad music and the fact that you can't drop out of conversations. However, I think your game was well made and I like the retro feel. On top of that it was pretty original and challenging. I think if you can fix the more "interference" and "control" issues your game will be much better, as you obviously have the good gameplay.
