Reviews for "The Hero's Journey"

Fun game man! A change of perspective, i really liked this, what i think to be a very innovative idea! Gave me a couple of laughs! Also appreciate the Monty Python reference, haha.

The only problem i had was that i ended up reading the same note several, several times.

Is the proper ending the ending in which you hang to death by standing on a tree? Doing this gets you to the same screen if you had killed yourself using lava or water.

jacobalbano responds:

The notes are randomly generated from a series of possible content chunks, and there aren't a whole lot of different ones, so it makes sense that you got repeats. I would have liked to add more variety or a way to make sure there was less repetition, but we only had 48 hours to get the whole thing done.

Thanks for the feedback!

Interesting concept, but lousy execution. If the creature actually did something then this could be fun. They don't have to even fight they could simply get the f*ck out of there when stabbed. Give the hero a reason a goal, even if it is only kill all monsters. The character is a blank slate which I have no effect on...try giving the player the ability to customize the character over apply the armor and weapons picked up; at least to make up for the shitty writing and game play. Also if it was funny in Monty Python, leave it in Monty Python....you ass.

Hit a bug that forced me to move infinitely downward, and I could not move left or right. My character apparently was hell bent on drowning himself.

jacobalbano responds:

This is actually a bug in flash. I don't have it at all, but one of the other guys working on the game was getting it all the time. Sorry about that!

this is an excellent game....... idea. but it needs some major changes, like maybe you should give the character some kind of strengths, like more health, the first thing that happened when i played was i saw some blue, walked into it, and drowned. i didn't know there was water until i drowned. you should probably draw stuff better like the lava. again when i walked over i saw red and then i stepped on it and died, seriously draw better and put up some warnings on the river and lava spots. otherwise i liked that you came in with a sword and were able to kill whoever the fuck you wanted. good job bro.

i have seen much better 8-bit games.
