Reviews for "Lab Lights"

Wow, I really enjoyed this game, even though I'm very bad at it. I wasn't even able to get past the second level! What I did like about this game was that it really did have some unique gameplay that I was proud of. The graphics were simple enough. It's funny, because it quickly gets hard. There's just a huge number of ways you can hook these things together, but you have limited wire.

It might not that have been that well detailed, but I appreciated the unique layout. I guess people with more patience should enjoy this more. I like the music too. It's fairly calm, silly music and it fits the game well. I also like how there's so much going on.

Zanzlanz responds:

Thanks Ericho!
I appreciate your optimism in something you didn't get to play much xD
In level 2, I tried putting batteries in places that were very close to a winning place, so if you try again, you might just get it ;)
Well if you ever come back to play again, I wish you luck :D

It's challenging and fun game. Still a few levels to go, I think...

I also found a bug where 2 metal crates can become one. For example on level 17, if you push the "magnet formations" top magnet to the left, only one crate keeps moving. Now if you push the formations rightmost magnet down and push the metal crate that stopped moving to the left, it can disappear.

Zanzlanz responds:

Thanks and good job!

Yes I know of this bug too. Unfortunately the timing has to be absolutely perfect in order for that to happen. Otherwise I coded the crates to "reset" their positions if they sense another block in their path. I find that this happens when you undo. Sorry for the bug and if I revisit the code again, I'll try to repair it ;)

It's great, but something's not right. Your walkthrough shows levels with no black blocks standing in the way. Yet, I see two or three of them at the starting room, and one even stopped me from beating Level 2.

Zanzlanz responds:

That sounds super strange! Can you send a screenshot so I can see what's happening, and maybe your specs (Browser, OS, GPU, if you have any browser plugins that might affect it, etc)?

Thanks though! Sorry about the weirdness!

Nice puzzle game.
It's a pretty good entry for the Dare.
The puzzles were very challenging, I couldn't pass the 7th level.
I agree with Revengeofthefallen , Level 2 was a lot more challenging than the next 3 levels. You should have saved it for later.
For the ones who are finding that level difficult, even if you place each battery against a light and connect the rest with wires you will be one wire short always. You have to find a sweet spot which can reduce the spread of wires. I had 1 wire remaining after I finished.

You should provide hints or make a walkthrough, so we can attempt the other levels atleast.

Zanzlanz responds:

Thanks!

Aw yeah level 7 is a bit tough. Maybe you'll get it later?
Well okay, I suppose level 2 can be hard if you don't get it right from the start. I find it very impressive that you used one less than I ever did. Fantastic job!

I would love to make a walkthrough eventually. I just finished the game last night, so I'll start making a walkthrough this week :)

A nice challenging game. I managed to beat all lvls somehow but I gotta say that some of these puzzles were very difficult, and many of them were done in a smart way. Good job :P

There was one annoying thing though. I don't know if it's a problem with the controls or the way you programmed this game but sometimes the characters pushes the boxes way too fast. I mean it wasn't my intention to push that box but when I go close to it, it get pushed. Then I have to restart the whole puzzle again. It happened a lot, compared to other games I've played before. You can fix this problem by either adding some sort of delay before/while pushing the box (less than half a sec but it still counts as a delay) or you can add some undo button (undo last move).

I also noticed that some lvls weren't as difficult as the one before. For example, lvl 21 was a joke compared to many previous lvls. But I guess this is a minor issue; I mean maybe some people found it difficult? I don't know :P

Overall great game. I really enjoyed these challenges.
Keep em coming :3

Zanzlanz responds:

Wow fantastic job Shantom! You're the first I heard to solve all of the levels! Congratulations!

Oh well you do know there's undo! Press Z to undo the last thing you did! I can't believe you didn't use it! (It tells you in levels 1 and 2). Ouch well sorry you didn't notice that xD

Yes I'm not the master at level design, to be honest. Some levels turned out a lot easier. But you're right - the levels are more and less difficult for different people because all people think differently.

Thanks so much for playing! :)
