well good

FreeAsANerd responds:

thanks

I loved The Company of Myself, for the gameplay, for the art, and for the music. For the gameplay, I may love this one even more. The music is beautiful as always, much love for David's work, I bought the soundtrack for this, Company, and another game he made the music for.

Spoiler Below

I really did love the game though I guess I wanted to see Jack planting the flowers next to where he buried her, the ambiguity of him forgetting works though. I liked the way that Kathryn's death in this game paralleled the level from The Company of Myself, though my morbid curiosity still wants to know how she died. Still, loved the game, 5 stars, can't wait to see the next game you create.

FreeAsANerd responds:

Unfortunately, Jack's drug use stops any of us from being able to know exactly what happened. This game is more about explaining the cause rather than the specifics of what happened.

Thanks for writing!

loved it just as good as the first one!!! My only thing that really confuses me as to this one and the first one is in the first one they eluded he killed her??? but this did she still die or did she ever die or did he lose her cuz of his drug addled mind and forgot about her??? ne ways awesome game would love if someone knew other than that really great

FreeAsANerd responds:

That's not quite it, but you're getting close. Glad you enjoyed it!

Oh wow. Oh wow.
Okay, so, I frequently cite The Company of Myself as my favorite flash game. I was horribly excited when I saw there was a prequel. I forgot how moving your games are.
Okay, so, I like the art style, but at first, it sort of bugged me. I like it though. The smoke thing seemed pretty unique, but timing the smoke rings was a bit difficult and annoying. The music fits perfectly, and I nearly died at the ending, because I knew what was going to happen. I feel as though it would have been almost horribly cruel if you had played the music from TCOM, yet I almost wish you had.
And the ending, how he just walks away, thinking it's a good day. I feel as though Jack in that moment was a smug bastard, I hated him for several moments.
I feel as though I'm missing a lot of things about the game, though. I guess I should replay it.
@ Anyone who didn't understand the ending: Play The Company of Myself.

FreeAsANerd responds:

Yeah, you'll most likely understand a lot more of the little conversations after you've played it already. And we didn't want to directly use the original music, but the new soundtrack gradually picks up more and more similarities to it.

Thanks for writing!

Good puzzles, great art, fantastic music, and interesting story, all the elements of a great game. Can be a little difficult at times, but overly so. Loved the ending.
