Reviews for "Adventures of Veronica"

Well ...

Long story short, the lack of the inventory is kinda annoying since you have to click a lot. I would suggest to add a list of the items you got instead of the selection ... Then, I agree with 0114ch - you should probably give some hint when you hover the mouse over a clickable object.

On the bright side, even without hints this was solveable. Sometimes it is pretty easy and sometimes it makes you think. If you like games like this, I would recommend it.

Besides of that, I needed the walkthrough in the end for the machine code. And a small report: If you click the right spot, you can get the clawhammer before you used the hacksaw blade. Hope this helps.

Decent but easily could have been a lot better

The artwork was adequate and consistent. The puzzles were fun and somewhat challenging.

However, the plot was pretty lame. I like how she doesn't even look scared when there's supposed to be something chasing after her.

But the main problem is with the inventory system. It's HORRIBLE. You have all these items and trying each one on an object takes way longer than it should because you have to navigate through them one by one. Why can't a grid displaying all your items show up instead and just let you click once and be done with it? Sometimes you just want to see what items you have currently but you have to check through them one by one wasting time. At first I didn't even know if I tried to use the item or simply exited the inventory screen since the game doesn't confirm that the item doesn't work on the object. It works but it's clunky and shouldn't be considering it is a core component of the game.

Another problem is navigating through rooms. It's confusing in some parts of the game. The arrows should have been labeled with the name of the room they go to.

This game isn't as bad as some people are making it out to be but it does have some huge design problems and a couple bugs.

Pretty good

I had to get the walkthrough help with the pool ball puzzle and finding some of the items was difficult, too. ex. Finding the film reel in the library. I did like most of the puzzles, though. Nothing was too obscure. I especially liked the combination lock on the time machine. I actually looked at the screen upside down to do that one. :)

Decent Puzzle Game

A few things were hard to find and the keys could be a little bit more specific. Pretty good game though.

My biggest complaint is the the way you get into the basement. I searched for where to go at that point for at least 10 minutes before I found the answer on someone else's review.

Good game, but annoying interface

The puzzles were fun and not too difficult mostly - I did apparently miss a hint on the back of the cards and had to get help, but I suppose this happens...
However, not being able to look in my inventory was frustrating because I couldn't remember what stuff I got and maybe have an idea where to use it. Even when interacting with some object, I have to scroll through all items one-by-one.
As mentioned, it was difficult to know what I was interacting with, and quite frustrating to get no response if I try using the wrong item.
There's also a bug in the inventory that it displays the amulet whenever opened, and you have to move left or right to switch to one of the last items actually.
In addition, running around all the screens was tiresome, and although usual for these games, the animation in the middle wore on my patience...
The graphics and music are all fine (although Veronica does look silly!), and the riddles too as I've said, so I just hope the next episodes have more comfortable gameplay. Waiting! :)
