Needs lots of brushing up
I only bothered with this game because I'm a sucker for toss/distance games.
But this feels like a really poorly made beta. Here are some observations:
-the controls are clunky and generally feel misaligned with the moving screen and the frequency of spikes. Most of the time the controls aren't responsive enough to get you out of the way in time.
-the hitbox for coins is annoyingly small. Also, was it just me or do you have to be near the surface to get coins? Basically this is a disincentive to ever get high up in the air, which all the upgrades seem to push you toward. Doesn't make any sense.
-the art could use serious brushing up. Also, some of the animation frames seem sloppy, especially during landing
-the physics of running seem weird. Sometimes I start slow, sometimes I get a running start, sometimes I don't move at all. You start too slowly and accelerate too quickly.
-note the moving screen which everybody is complaining about. I know it felt innovative, but if people don't like it you should probably take it out.
-just coins? Could use other (non-upgradable) items in the air just to make it feel more "substantial," I don't know. At least different amounts of coins?
-having the upgrades say something besides "true" and "false" will make this feel less like an alpha build of something
-I personally liked the meme theme a lot, while others here probably disagree.
-the delays were annoying (after dying, scrolling through upgrade menus) - the whole menu system seems unnecessarily delayed
-goals would be nice.
Despite all this, it kept my interest for about 15 minutes. It felt a little unique, and was entertaining. I think if you seriously polished this up it could be much better.
