Reviews for "Bullet Audyssey"

Eridanus 6, diffuculty 1.5 stars.

bull fucking shit. good game don't get me wrong, tune down the god damn lazers. 5/5. maybe have them fire less lazers and be smaller. i can't work with an entire screen of red. and its closer to 3.5 stars.

mighty fine game!

first off, this has an excellent layout. 3 different control schemes without having to mess around in any option menu is really nice, especially in shooters like this. so thank you for that! 10/10
the graphics are clean and everything runs smoothly usually. unfortunately, sometimes the gameplay will get a little choppy irregardless of what's on the screen. it takes a minute or so to smooth itself out, but it's enough to effect gameplay to a degree. 9/10
the selection screen layout is really cool. i especially like the 3d movements/dimensions in the level mapping. there's one major problem though, some of the level information is cut off by the screen. Serpens 15 in particular, i couldn't tell that i had lost 3 ships on that one until i replayed it because the bottom is completely cut off on the map. i would suggest a 3d approach by making the bottom part angle upward, making the galaxy map more spherical than spiral. Also, you may want to widen the screen so Cancer 19 isn't cut off either. 8/10
the music is good, i like all the songs used, but there's only 10 songs for 19 levels. i know it's more about the puzzle aspect and that putting in specific bullet patterns for each song can be time consuming, but my favorite part of rhythm games is adapting to unexpected beats 16 levels in. i was disappointed at the first song repeat, but the game is fun enough that it was enjoyable to still play through. song choices were great, the variety was not. 5/10

This is an awesome game and i really hope there's another one coming some day. Good work and thank you for the sweet game!

Amazing,...but

The gameplay is great. I've seen a few reviews stating the controls are a little loose, a little, but I'm sure most deaths are caused by an inability to keep track of about ninety bullets at once. As alluded to in the previous sentence, this game is hard. THIS GAME IS REALLY HARD. but enjoyable thanks to the music. Nice touch combining when the bullets fire to the beat. I did find the rating system a little arbitrary though. (I couldn't beat a two star until i had four more upgrades, but breezed though a three star without a scratch.) Overall the game is fun, pretty hard, but if you focus and keep trying you can finish the game.

Awesome! Reinforcements!

Except you made my hitbox the size of the FREAKING MOON!

All kidding and final boss aside, I really enjoyed this game. I would have liked a larger variety of songs, but I understand that each song would add many hours to the game development. The game was long enough to have a nice sence of progression, yet short enough that the music didn't start to annoy me. I did find that As Hard As It Gets did tend to skip a bit when the lasers fired, which made it a little harder than it had to be.

Upgrades and everything had a real impact on your abilites. After beating the game, i went back to the first boss and crushed him with only half a charge. I must admit, there was a certain level of joy when, after getting the lv 3 Overcharge skill, seeing 1/2 the enemies HP vanish in one shot.

At first it bothered me how limiting firing actually was, but as I got used to it, it made a lot more sence. I spent as much time gathering power as i did waiting for that 1 moment when I had a nice, clear shot. It made it genuinly exciting.

Now, my big kicker is here is the final boss. Beyond the reinforcement thing which I mentioned right off the bat, it felt like a total cop-out. After going through all those levels, I get that as a final boss? And it didn't even have a unique song to go with it. It was just really anticlimatic. It was just a really dissapointing final boss.

The game as a whole was well above average, and I had a lot of fun. There are a lot of tense moments and chaotic bullet pattern. Just that final boss and the lack of musical variety are downers.

CellarDoorGames responds:

Hey-o Hozama,

Your hit box is 1 pixel large. There's a small white dot in the middle of your ships which you can use to tell your size.

Thanks for all the feedback, and sorry you didn't like the final boss. We thought it was pretty cool.

awesome.

whats the secret achievement... really want it O___O
