Reviews for "Strawberry's Hour"

I love it!

I got to admit that one of the best Clock Day submission I've seen.

The animation was fluid and came out very smoothly. I especially like the music you selected for this only because it was very beautiful and followed the story extremely well. Speaking of that, I enjoyed the story of this flash a lot and it was pretty well written from the beginning to the end of it. Though, it's sad that StrawberryClock had to die, like they say, you could never kill StrawberryClock. I also love the characters in the flash too, especially the Grim Reaper character when he encounters StrawberryClock so he will be ready to be perished and to face his own death.

But overall, I enjoyed seeing this flash and you did an extremely well job on making this for Clock Day 2011! I am expecting to see much more flashes like this one from you in the future only because you are a pretty excellent flash artist. So good job, MasterMerol!

THANKS A LOT!

Great

I don't give a lot of 10s nowadays, and that's a compliment ;) I'll elaborate on the points of this movie later, but I'll tell you this: it was indeed wonderful.

The art: The art was done wonderfully, with the full emotions of StrawberryClock being displayed as he saw the face of the grim reaper (clock?); I could very much make out the different emotions he felt: Horror, joy and suspense while SBC was waiting. The grim reaper and the stork, along with the backgrounds were drawn very nicely indeed; I don't know how you managed to pull off the shading bit but it's wonderful. I'm way far from being an art expert, and I can't draw to save my life, but I thought this was great indeed.

The music: The music...hmm, let's see, the music. It fit well with the movie; it also helped supplement the emotions SBC was experiencing and built up suspense when required, and slowed down the pace when not. A very nice choice of music indeed.

The animation: The animation was fluid and smooth; it was, in my opinion, flawless, although you could improve on the dog's part -- I just saw the dog turning around and walking, with no walk animation, but rather just....floating on the topsoil. Nevertheless, overall, it was wonderfully animated.

The story: I see SBC standing on a hook, waiting, when a flashback plays; he faces the grim reaper, and tries desperately to escape from him, and near the end, he does escape from him, but there's a small hiccup -- he realizes death will always come, whether or not you escape from the grim reaper. A very nice storyline indeed, and of the first I've seen. The time is also balanced, with it being neither too short or too long. Good job.

~~ Summary ~~

~~ Good points ~~
1) Nice art
2) Fluid animation
3) Lovely music
4) Great storyline
5) Not too short, not too long

~~ Bad points ~~
None that I can think of.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

Dude

The music is making love to my ears. The story is both funny and sad, and has some really interesting moments.

As always, my friend, great work :)

Well Animated

Well this one turned out to be pretty good and I guess it goes to show that not everyone can stand the test of time while others can. I would say after the ending that Strawberry gets out of the hole just a whole lot more pissed off and scared at the grim reaper clock and dog clock doing that to him and simply leaving him there to suffocate in the dirt rather than celebrate his day with him. Good work of art though, very detailed.

The animation was well done and I see you spent a lot of time shading on each frame and such to try getting details just right. Kind of funny how it starts and you have no clue why he is there and then it is revealed the grim reaper is after him for some reason or another and Strawberry simply feels it is not his time and tries to get away as fast as possible.

Then later he falls into a hole and that dog buries him likely not knowing he is there either. Wonder who was calling that dog in the end though as it leaves him but not before burying him deep under dirt possibly just annoying him seeing as Strawberry Clock can not die. Good animation though, quite detailed and nice to watch.

The music used was nice and the symphony music was pretty cool and fitting here since music can tell all kinds of stories once you begin to listen to them and see what kind of message they convey and such. I found the tunes here were fitting for every moment of the flash. Wonderful.

Overall, highly interesting and detailed Clock Day 2011 piece, nice work here!!

(Sorry for not giving you a longer response).

Also thanks for reposting!

Overall a good short animation.

Although it was a tad late for Clock Day 2011, I can see that a lot of time and thought was put into this animation. The audio, animation, plot/story, music selection, everything was thoroughly thought out and planned precisely to make this animation great. 9/10.

Merol responds:

Heh, the score doesn't match the one in your review! But THANKS!
