Reviews for "Penguin Overlords"

Good game

This was a great game spent at least an hour playing but there are some major flaws I wont list them here as they have been pointed out in the reviews below. The only thing I think would make this game better that I don't see anyone else mentioning would be a more climactic ending xD the game kinda finished and Iwas like: okay now what?

Great, but with it's flaws

Well, after beating the game through 1 hours of consecutive playing my wrist is killing me.

First off, things on the game as some other members mentioned. Hotkeys, this would have been a god send, and why it was not incorporated is beyond my understanding(would've made the game much more controllable). Another thing, upgrades for the cursor which could have been nice as the pull range or speed. The music was good, but after listening to the same music for 1 hour straight it does want to make me scrap out my ear drums with a rusty dull spoon. Also, the tutorial was way to forceful in my opinion, and the fact it does not repeat after the first run through of it (unless I missed a button or something) had me confused for couple of rounds as I accidentally skipped through few messages. And I don't know how the penguin AI was set up, but two things I would like to mention about it. One, the penguins grind themselves to the wall(although I feel this has been done purposely so the obstacles actually block the penguins), and they seem to pick random targets instead of picking the target that is right in front of them(excluding the fading penguins). The game also had it's fair share of some grinding to get started, but nothing unbearable.

Some good thing about the game I liked, is that although upgrades were necessary to advance through the game, one did not need to get all the upgrades to beat the game. Well timed ability and a little bit of luck, and it is possible to beat a round without arming your penguins to the teeth. I felt that the abilities actually is useful in this game(all four of them), and didn't have a lot of problem with the game's balance until towards the end of the game, where as it started to get easy.

So, I don't know if anyone at all would read this 5 page essay of a comment, but I think this game earned it. I felt the game was very entertaining, and enough for me to log in, write a review, and vote. So keep up the good work, I'll look forward to your next work on the front page.

Not too shabby

First I wanna comment on the music, I thought it was great (I love Kingdom Hearts) but it got really old after the first 5 levels to hear the same song over and over again. I ended up muting it. Adding in a few new songs would help a lot. As for the gameplay, it reminded me A LOT of Infectonator with penguins instead of zombies, (though you can have zombie penguins). My main problem with the gameplay was how stupid the penguins were. I wouldn't have minded the obstacles too much if the penguins walked around them, but instead they ran into the wall until the enemy on the other side either moved or was killed. This led to me getting frustrated and quitting since there was nothing I could do to make the penguins any smarter. Fix the penguin AI, add new songs and add in an "Egg Magnet" upgrade that increases the range to pick up eggs and I wouldn't really be able to find any serious problems with the game.

Great game...

My only complaint is the lack of upgrading the magnetic pull of the money. Give me some upgrades for it, leave it on the screen, or give me a penguin that only picks these things up. Way too hard to get all the money!!!!

the music

*cough* please someone tell me they hear Kingdom Hearts music. I know that they just ripped the music off so for that the game only gets a 6....
