Reviews for "Mystery of Willow Mannor"

Pretty fun game, though the humor ruins the mood

Being a visual novel in the mystery genre, that deserves a personal 10/10! Now time to be a harsh critic.

The music was fitting for the game. It puts you in suspense and helps set a mood of the mystery going on. I can't judge on sound effects or voice acting for obvious reasons, so that's it for audio.

The visuals were really great. I liked the art style used in this project. Drawn out on paper only helped aid your art style's feel. I'd like to know how you got the chicken and woman to glow...although we already know it's radiation. From the 90's.

The animation can only be judged for dialogue, chicken, and text appearing on screen. (I guess) Having only two frames for speaking animation actually made the game creepier. The chicken flapping doesn't necessarily fit the dialogue of the chicken pecking the main character, though two frames of a chicken pecking at you would probably be weird to animate. The text ran smoothly...yup.

As for the actual text, I noticed that in one scene, you spelled the word, similar, as "simmilar." Spelling shouldn't be a big issue, but they seem to be common in visual novels. Thankfully, this is just one spelling error and I was able to keep on reading. (what, it's a real issue for me when every 5 lines, there's a misspelling!)

I don't know if this is done on purpose, but if you choose to shoot the groundskeeper, there's a story issue of him being back and the main character acting like nothing happened. If Marsh is the more rational one, then he shouldn't react the way he did to a person he shot some time ago. That would be categorized under story/writing/transitions, probably. These really shouldn't be an issue with visual novels.

As mentioned in the "summary", the humor ruins the mood of the overall game. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, although I feel like some references just weren't that great, and will only degrade as time goes on. Being named Willow Manor, there's a cheap shot at Willow Smith. I get the humor, but writing that the complex would whip its hair back and forth was a little too farfetched for me. That would probably be the only reference I had any complaint about, but it's minor anyway.

All in all, this was a great experience, and the beauty of visual novels like this one would be the replay value. This wasn't a straight-forward text adventure type game, though I assumed it would be with the pitfall killing you right off the bat. This was a great collaboration overall, and done under 72 hours! Link needed time travel to do what you guys did!

this is cool

this is awesome i enjoyed the story and its been done really well for you to do in 72 hours. i love the alien ending the best hehehe. the true ending was crazy hehe

Answer to guy below

Depends on which ending you get, if you get the "out of this world ending" then it's Aliens, every other ending is a demon.

Loved it, but confused?

so i got all four endings, but why exactly are the people glowing green? This wasn't clearly eplained.

Psycho Murderer

This guys a real nutcase.I know a kid who hasn't got the physicall strength, but he's an even more crazy guy than Marsh!9/10 'cause it made my brother pee his bed.And his bed is on top of mine.
