I think I get it.
This is my interpretation, but this might not be what the creator had in mind.
The scene starts with the man inside what looks like a cannon that's locked because you look into a keyhole. The arm is reaching out, holding an apple, seemingly scolding the man harshly. I think that the man who seems scared and guilty ate the apple, which was a sin [like the story Adam and Eve, in which the hand is God's]. The guy is shot from the cannon into purgatory; he can't make it to heaven due to the fact that he took a bite from the apple[probably not visible from the screen view]. Later, the man is found walking, miserable because of what he's done. He then finds a lady that makes his eyes light up, but realizes that she's holding the sinful apple. His memories flash back and he feels so sorry about what he did that he cries in anguish. This 'sorry' nature is forgiveness to God somehow, who chains him and pulls him back into heaven. The man, scared, confused, and probably remembering the way he was yelled at, tries to keep a grip on purgatory. The pull is too strong and he's sucked into the sky.
This is just my interpretation of it, I'm not sure if it was right or not...but it seems somewhat true?
