It's okay
The story is fairly weak. What did you do? Who were you at war with? Why would you want to go to the capital of anywhere if you're either the guy who was shooting at them or just betrayed them? Why did you betray them? Etc...
The intro movie was slow moving. Then when you see your guy get in the cockpit, you completely miss the captioning. Again, why does he care to attack whoever he's after?
The game itself is okay. Upgrades could use more flare, variety or levels per type. Of course, you can argue the point of where does he get these upgrades, but I'll leave that alone. I just wouldn't mind seeing tiers of autocannons, higher levels being able to target ships as well as missiles.
The combat is okay. It's mostly circles and the occasional figure eight. The enemies come in predictable formations and waves. The enemy's dependence on largely missiles makes them decidedly vulnerable. If you had just a couple of units use cannons or beam weapons that you can spot before they fire, much better.
For the simple style, you make it work quite well. Much better and more believable than a million flashing lights.
I have no idea what Emzz is talking about with the bar. I only took real notice of the circle, which took me forever to realize was life. I would suggest the upgrade button maybe relocated to be more central, thus noticed earlier on. I give it a 7 to say it's average. A passable game, but has many facets which can be improved upon. Wouldn't mind seeing a sequel or rehash that fleshes it out a bit more.
