Reviews for "Not Your War"

Enjoyed the game...

but there were a few flaws that made me shed a single tear.
1) Its been said before it will be said again, hitboxes! If an enemy or myself are not square our hitboxes should not be. I tried flying close to the missle ship sometimes and would just explode without visual hitting them because of the square hitboxes. It is only a little more work to change that and it makes the world of difference. If you want to keep the hitboxes square make the visuals to match
2)The lag can be toned down a bit by shortening the tails on the missles, this isn't a major issue and ultimetly its up to you
3) The generals. I see what you were going for but they are just really annoying. If they stayed at the top of the screen it would be fine, but when they are at mid-bottom of the screen forcing me to take the top it becomes impossible to dodge the reinforcing drones. The easy fix would be to keep the generals at the top of the screen. Harder fix would be to have the drones spawn on the general
4) Consider replacing the auto turret with just a third standard gun. The targeting can be dificult with the guns being on the wings instead of center mass and while changing this is not neccesary (infact I enjoyed the physics of the wing aiming) a gun center mass would be an upgrade I'd snatch up quick.

For the most part this is just nit picking. Thank you very much for creating and sharing this game I enjoyed it alot (you flash artists put up with alot of junk from the community for free so good on you). Despite what 90% of newgrounders say the upgrade system does not need to be changed, people or just too hung up on upgrades. The game was generally enjoyable with a good difficulty curve.

PLyczkowski responds:

Thanks for the review! Well, more upgrades, or a whole upgrade system with upgrade/skill trees is always good, takes a lot more work though.

Good fun and all

Good fun, great visuals, interesting learning curve. A bit laggy (but you did warn us), I'm going to have to agree with Kesk as far as the bosses moving are concerned. I find that the story didn't make sense though.

Is the main guy fighting against the guys who find him guilty of treason, or for them?

If he's fighting against them, why did they give him a ship?

If he's fighting for them, why is he fighting for them if they threaten to execute him?!?

Awesome.

The gameplay was challenging, but not too difficult, and some of the encounters featuring multiple ship types were extremely enjoyable, but what really made this game for me was the graphical style. The dark, pessimistic, atmospheric, and beautiful shades of gray and surreally glowing pale yellow was truly awe-inspiring and added so much to the game.

There were only two parts of the game that could easily be improved: the upgrade system, adding more upgrades and perhaps improving the heavy cannon a little, and the main game's music, which didn't match up at all with the music during the intro and outro.

To that 'special' someone

xzibition8612, you're a worthless piece of shit who's computer is as dumb and slow as you are. It's obviously your fault this game is so slow because I'm running it just fine and the graphics are at least a 9/10. Go kill yourself, you pussy.

FUN

alot more fun than i thought it would be. good job.
