Reviews for "Abyss Walker"

Nice... but still :/

nice gameplay but i did find a hard time learning the controls, work on it..

Not so good

Nice graphics and sound, but add combos tothe sword

Not as bad as some reviewers make it.

I found the graphics the best part of this game. Those were really nice.

The gameplay started to be better towards the end.

The jumping was indeed a bit annoying sometimes, but to me what was the most annoying is that sometimes double jump didn't work if you pressed the up arrow twice (maybe because double jump only works when going downwards and I pressed it too early? Still annoying).

There was a glitch in the last level: After I finidhed the boss, I got the reward money (and the story about what the end boss said about the scroll), but the game then stayed in that level. I killed the other guys there, took everything, but couldn't do anything else but quit using the "m" button. When I did that, the game hanged, still in that level... After refreshing the browser window I was in the menu again, and WITH the reward money from the last level! I would have preferred to see an ending of the story rather than being stuck in a level with a glitch...

The secrets are nice. The stealth started to get nice once you had enough upgrades. In the last levels, I started to feel really ninja-like when I could throw shurikens at enemies while they didn't even detect me, and when using "d" walking past everyone undetected. In the beginning the stealth skills were really useless though.

I didn't understand the point of the throwing spears, maybe I missed something (low range and 1 damage even after upgrades?)

Sometimes it was frustrating when accidently falling down at the bottom of the level due to a jump annoyance and having to start over.

Not quite ninja, but still a game.

The thing I don't like about many of the ninja games on the net is that they aren't really ninja games. Most of them mess up something that kind of ruins the concept of a ninja.

So when I think of ninjas, I think of fast, precise, stealthy, and deadly.

This game seemed to be far from that. Most of your stealth skills are just not effective enough! The gameplay isn't much based on stealth, none of your skills give you the ability to sneak past your enemies. At least a stealth game should have shadows, or alternate paths to avoid enemies. Stealth isn't a big enough part of this game.

So onto movement. Jumping was strange, as others have said. This isn't a good thing, reliable jumps are important. A reliable, good jump and a good air combo might make jumping much better.

Onto combat. Early in the game, you stand in front of enemies, and wack away at them, or run away. Not exactly a good way to start. Long range attacks aren't much better. All attacks are slower then what I would want from a ninja game, and none of the attacks benefit from stealth. Stealth is an essential part of many battles. Adding a feature such as criticals for attacking an enemy's back or such could really improve it, and faster attacks would be nice as well.

All in all, it's a game, but the game itself isn't that great (weak long range attacks, or standing in front of an enemy and cutting each other to pieces), and the gameplay doesn't match the concept. Not many ninja games actually feel like they should, though, and you got at least a few features and few glitches from what I saw, so I'll give it a 6.

so so?

Not that bad a kinda calling gameplay but the controls got me a few times also its been said bu stealt its not so efective, it was good but not a 10 material sorry
