I can tell that it was VERY SMBZ (Super Mario Bros Z) inspired. It did run on a bit long, but it was still very nice.
I see a few references
Dragonball (The entire series to be general), Super Smash Bros., One of the various handheld Mario games, Final Fantasy, Sonic, and I think I also saw something close to What the $&*% just blew my mind?!
Amazing to a whole new level
You've improved so much, it may not be noticeable here on NG since you have'nt uploaded much, but for me, that I have seen most of your flashes since I taught you, you're technique and animation has evolved so much!
I really like all the resources you used in the camera shots, also the different moves, and the flow of the battle. It never made me tired of it like some flash movies which just don't know when to change the pace of the fight.
Good selection on music and sound effects. I readed a post below saying you should add Scott Pilgrim sfx, it may be nice, but I don't think that quits quality to this.
Anyway, keep going bro, and remember, practice makes perfection!

but i just have to know did you draw those mario sprites urself? or did you rip em from a game, just curious because thos anims were so unique
