Your Daily Teaspoon of Morbid Humor
A well-done piece of noir, this short film cops the goth sense of humor with striking exactitude. It features a day in the life of a goth girl, which begins normally enough, but ends in a situation most of us would find terrible -- but to the goth girl, is nothing less than pure fun, appropriately. The subtle animations (watch how the Little Goth Girl blinks) and the playful, thoughtful use of color add to the macabre experience, as does the hilarious dialogue. The author apologizes for the lack of sound, but really, I think that silence is best for this film.
So much on Newgrounds smacks of violence and soft porn, and the Adam Sandler slapstick style of humor everyone seems to embrace these days -- but this is completely unique. If you laugh at the darker side of life and appreciate irony, you should enjoy this. If you'd rather see fake DD-size boobies, go play with one of the multitude of Britney Dress-Up Dolls.
