Reviews for "Mechanical Ice Apocalypse"

Repetetive and tedious.

First of all, I looked at some of the reviews and the responses, and you seem kind of...how should I put this...butthurt. Kind of.

Super Meat Boy is similar to this game in that a large part of it is trial and error. You play. You die. You learn. You die. You learn. You die. You learn. You beat. But what's different is, that in this game you play. You die. You learn. You die. You learn. You die. You die. You die. You die. You beat.

First off, Super Meat Boy. It is a VERY fast paced game (at least that's how I play. Hardly do I ever let go of the dash button). Not only is it fast paced, but dying and retrying takes no time at all. Each death, you might learn something you can do to avoid that missile, or a new place where you can stand to not die from that buzzsaw. This is all a very quick process. Also, the sense of accomplishment you get is much more quickly delivered in SMB. Each level is short and sweet, and when you beat it, you feel good.

Now, this game, is only one, long level. You learn everything quickly, what to do to avoid attacks, but there isn't a lot to learn to begin with, and you just repeat what you do if you die. Because of this, if you make a stupid mistake, then you have to repeat ALL your progress on the boss, and do the same thing over and over again.

Now, even with all this, this game isn't actually that bad. A lot of are small details. It's not THAT long, and, well, if you be careful, then you can beat it. Dying is pretty frustrating, though. I honestly just wanted to quit when I died one time. I started typing this review, and gave it a 6, but before I typed the whole thing up, I gave it one more chance. Died only once after that, and beat the game. It's not that bad.

It's a simple concept, seen in many other games, but it's delivered well. The music isn't ear grinding, and the visuals are pretty appealing. This is good work in a short amount of time.

shooter boss YEEY!!!

I love the shooter games, this one has a very good art and I'd really would like to see a litle more complete version with more weapons bosses and missions, tha'ts a very interestin proposal for this year jam.

Annoying

Please, let there be some easy mode or checkpoints.
Now it's a very iritating game - first you spend time avoiding banal obstacles, you get to the point, where you died previous time and get killed just because, you don't REMEMBER what too do. Then you do the exact same thing, omit the thing that killed you last time, die again.

It should be a game! Not repeating the same moves all over again!

Super Meat Boy, people. Super Meat Boy.

eeeerrggghhh

Its awesome but I can't get past the lazors!!!

Man...

Come on... I beat this bastard twice in 2'15 and 2'15... But at the end the screen is just blocked on "victory". And nothing more happens. No medals, no glory...

Anyway. That's really a good game, particularly with such a time limit. You must have worked very hard to present a flash that clean and complete. Especially if you were only the two of you. Nothing we could call very original, but perfectly done, the controls are good and the ship is well answering and easy to move. The drawings are cool. The music suits well to the ambience. It's a success.

If i just had smthg to complain about (except this blocking and frustration at the end), it would be that it's not always easy to notice if you touch the vilain or not.

Good job.

I became aware of that Victory screen thing about an hour ago, but couldn't do anything about it because of classes :P I'm on the case now. - Brian

EDIT: Fixed (in 1.1.6). But due to Newground's policies, the update will take 24-48 hours to go live.
