Terrible.
This is an example of how not to make a game. Let's run through the review!
Graphics: The only thing good about this game is the sprites, but even those don't give much satisfaction. The animations were decent at best, and the backgrounds take their ideas from the Madness series obviously, but hey, with only like 3 backgrounds it's not hard to contribute them to any popular series on here.
Sound: Basic firing noises slightly muffled, with random techno music from the portal which got very repetitive.
Gameplay: This is where the game really shin... Oh wait, no it doesn't. The gameplay was easy and repetitive, being a chore to even find where to level your character up! As I saw someone else say in a review, that is NOT how a game should be. You made many skills useless, and the gameplay as a whole bland as hell. As an example, using Defense is useless. In order to make the skill useful you could have put enemies in that started charging a 2-turn attack, or maybe bosses that use powerful attacks at a certain turn.
How it can be improved:(new section) You could start by varying the animations. Some idle animations could really help the presentation. I shouldn't look at a game and say "neat picture." Make the stat menu easier to find and easier to read. Vary the sounds and music more. I shouldn't be hearing the same music every 2 battles unless it's for a specific area. Make the battles more strategic instead of just barrier attack attack attack attack heal attack attack attack win. A couple examples of that are above in the gameplay section. Finally, add some things to really give the game it's own separate personality, or really make the game feel like a crossover between 2 really good series.
In closing, I'm not usually this hard on games, but this one just makes me a bit sick. The fact this game got front page is beyond me. I appreciate your submission but you should test your games more thoroughly and try to be a bit more creative, even when dealing with an existing series.
