Eh...
I said this to GregoryWeir, and I'm gonna say it to you; art as games dosn't work well. It's nearly impossibly to pull off with any success, and you usually end up killing all form of gameplay for a linear storyline, which to be fair, isn't all that intresting. Basicly, you go through a fairly boring game with only one choice. If you really want people to connect with this, give more choices. Long, branching paths that gives us an conclusion that feel like a part of us.
For graphics, what do you expect me to say? It's minimilist pixel art. Animation is basicly non-existant and movement is so slow. The scenes around the choice area took so long, I thought my computer had frozen. You gotta keep people intrested, keep them entertained and make them want to play again. This can either be done with an incredibly story, or fantastic gameplay, and this didn't have either. I don't want to play this again, or any game in the series that comes before it or after it.
I'll give you one star for effort, but there is nothing here that was thought provoking or even slightly intresting. This was like opening a big, gold door to find a single toothpick inside. There was potential here, it was hitting you with a freaking sledgehammer and you somehow ignored it.
You could have made an intresting, suspenseful and truly engaging story where you're faced with tough choices and situations that make both the character and player wonder if looking for him is truly worth it. Would you be willing to sacrifice innocent people and your own sense of self for love. That would have worked here wonderfully. What we got was just insulting. Why was the "right" choice the completly stupid one?
If you wanna make something like this again, that's fine. I certainly won't bother with it because I know there is nothing here for me. If, on the other hand, you work hard and come out with something that draws you in and makes you feel like you ARE your character, that your choices matter and that you can get your happy ending, then I'll come see it.
