This is just about the sweetest thing on NG. Both of my grandfathers used to smoke and even though they both got heart attacks, and one lost a lung to cancer, they're both still around because they quit.
At first, he wasn't going to make it to the wedding if he kept smoking, because the daughter playing with the ball was the girl getting married, but if he kept smoking, he would die before she was married. When he puts the cigarette down, this shows he's quiting and so he survives and makes it to the wedding. Does that clear it up?
P.S. To the author, really great video. Almost made me cry.

Touching..I believe the father wanted to stop but unfortunately cigaretes have NICOTENE.I hope they can remove nicotene or make it illegal.
