Reviews for "Stronghold"

cool

very nice, good graphics and entertaining, 9/10 for the original concept

cool game little glitchy

Excellent game but it glitched out and let the bullet count go to negative so you never reload it. Not sure if i clicked to fast or lagged it. I'd implement a method that if it ever went to a negative bullet count to automatically reload it. instead of just at zero.

fun

everything is a little overpriced and takes too long too buy, other than that its fun.

Potential

Well, it did look nice. And I was rather fond of the insect-like creatures. It's great to exact pity revenge on them. Enough blood and gore to keep me statisfied and I think I saw several diffrent death sequences. So that's definately cool.

However, I soon discovered that my walls were automatically regenerating which kind of kills the whole point of the game. When I came back from my bathroom break later on, they were still munching happily away at my wooden walls which would go from 100 to 99 to 101 per cent. I reckon this should be the first thing to look into.

Then there was the small little square in the middle of nowhere on Mars. It's not very imaginative. Think outside the box. You were part of an expedition. Wouldn't they have had some kind of camp? Something bigger than just that little square. Perhaps you'd change position after a certain ammount of days. Some alternative defence upgrades would be nice as well. Perhaps one-turn auto turrets, mines or whatever you can think of.

I also wonder if there's an end to it. You'd expect one from the description but when you get to day twentyfive and you're still haven't gotten any new unlocks nor word from a transport, you start to wonder just how long the game's going to drag on. Now don't tell me thirty was to be the next 'checkpoint'.

All in all, was the ammount of entertainment bigger than the annoyances? Certainly. 4/5 and 8/10. I do hope for a new version which'll be more inovative. Since I can see some great potential here.

Extremely long, but ok.

The second checkpoint is after you complete day 31.

I have played to day 102, author please respond if there is a end to this game, because I haven't reached it.

Everything kind of makes sense here, as since this is survival you have to have the patients of surviving a long number of days. the quick regen on the walls is really quick with the healing, but it will go down if too many creatures are attacking that wall, has a meaning of strength in numbers, except the plasma wall, I haven't seen it go down. Considering that the game is extremely long, it would have been nice of you put more upgrades rather than just three. The last two weapons, bug blaster and plasma cannon, have the same stats when you level both of them to max. The only difference is one is more silent and costly, so you never really have to buy the plasma cannon unless you want to. Also when the bug reaches to close to the fence and attack, sometimes they will turn complete 360 degrees and continue attacking missing the fence entirely.

Advice:
- Add Checkpoints or a saving system thing.
- Don't make it extremely long.
- Add something to let the players know that they are actually getting somewhere.
- More equipment would be nice, but what you have now is ok.
- You could add a buy to repair option, or stick with the regen, but make the regen less "quick"

desertforce responds:

The second checkpoint was supposed to be at day 15, but I had moved it to day 31 for testing purposes, and forgotten about it. And you now repair walls in the upgrade menu at the end of each day, instead of that automatic thing.

*Note: when you purchase new barricades, the walls are automatically repaired, as one might find would happen in real life..lol
