Great story, frustrating gameplay.
I liked the story in this piece, and I liked the whole, changing to suit the environment, but there was one cripplying flaw that came to near the end of the game: that you had to start over to the very beginning if you made the slightest mistake.
In some areas, this can be painstakingly frustrating were the player just accidentally mistime his final jump until the door to the next level came to him/her. If that happened, then the player would have to restart all of his work he had done previously. I was on the verge of moving on from this game onto another piece by the final level.
The mechanics in the jumping made the hit detection in the flames go everywhere. If I was close to beating the level and if I accidentally slip on the ledge, BOOM, restart the level.
Checkpoints are a must in games that have a lot of trial and error components in them.
In the end, I present you with a 7. The story was great and the music really helped to evoke that feeling of loss, but the gameplay at times really killed the experience.
