I love the game but making the cell reminded me somewhat of Spore.

Ironically enough, the game was originally supposed to be built on a modified Spore engine. We changed over to Flash after the first proposal, and while I'm glad we did for a number of reasons, it definitely would have been interesting on the Spore engine, most likely written almost as a Spore prequel (setting up for when you finally start Spore as a single-celled organism). So - well observed! :)
