Reviews for "Claytus Hood TowerDefense"

Sold the Farm to Beat This One

This is one of the hardest tower-defense games I've played. Those who don't commonly play will be immediately frustrated after the fifth wave, because the enemies are either too hard to kill or the wave is too overwhelming to suppress. Either way, if you don't know how to put your towers together, you won't even come close to the bottom score on the leaderboard.

WAYYYYY Too hard

petty good but the income was way to low to make enough turrets

its ok

i get tired of tour defense but at least its a good one

cool

this game is awesome

Thanks ! I finished with your review, it's 6am and I have to go to sleep =D
Happy that you like Claytus, I made it for you !

rewards aren't worth the frustration.

it's nice that it's difficult, but the cash income doesn't scale well with the difficulty. like those armor bugs on the 5th wave in stage 1, for example; the shotguns are too slow, and the machine guns are too weak. there's not enough cash to place enough machineguns or shotguns to kill them before at least one leaks through, ruining a perfect run so far.

the slow towers seem to be useless, and just a waste of money.

tower range seems to be lacking

upgrades give you severely diminished returns; it's better to buy another tower than upgrade.

all in all, there's potential, but this game feels like a domineering girlfriend; you get the rewards, but only if you follow her exacting standards that are never clearly spelled out and seem to be constantly shifting, and even then, only if she likes you that day.
games need a certain amount of freedom to them; forcing every player to do the exact same thing or lose, isn't difficulty; it's bad design.

Rafarel responds:

Hi ! The 5th wave of the first stage is made to be the first difficulty you meet in the game, and it works, sorry if you don't win the first try, it's not the philosophy of Claytus TD. The slow tower isn't useless and without it you can't perfect the stage, so I don't think it's a waste of money. Upgrades take an important place on the second stage, and more on the third... You can upgrade machine guns on the first stage just to discover this feature. More powerful stats on turrets make them totally cheated, trust me, that brings a poor game play. There are many ways to win the stages. I've watched for hours tens of play testers to say that, but don't worry an easy mode will be released soon :)
Thanks for your feedback, don't forget that you can build while the wave is running instead of watching enemies kill you =D
Retry ?
