I can see something here:
If you follow all what the voice says, you will see the world with all detail, but... are you deciding where to go, or is it the voice who decides?
If you follow your own ideas and don't listen to the voice, you will play as you want, but... the world will be confuse, and the playthrough will be a HELL.
What I think is the message here is:
1-Humans need order, therefore, due to our childish nature, we always need to have somebody controlling us one way or another, it depends if you want to be controlled in order to know what's best and see clearly (no matter you see with other one's eyes) or just because you want to have something to rebel against.
2-Controllers are in need of control, as they are insecure, dubious and with a very low self-steem.
Then, why would somebody let being controlled? Because they love their controller, and know that, due to his/her/its weak, fragile, BRITTLE personality, they don't want to leave him/her/it with his/her/its heart broken.
Deep game, and don't understand the hateful reviews...
