Reviews for "Days of The Dead"

arhg!

nice game, but a undead got in the edge of the wall and i couldnt shoot it! or damage it with spells, you should fix bugs like that!

Needs PLENTY of work

the game gets annoying really quickly. first, there is no mention that you can actually MOVE your character. that's why lots of people are saying there's a glitch involving characters that can't be hit. The arcing is horrible. I'm not asking for straight arrow paths, I'm saying the arrow paths should be a lot more predictable. The game is too short. You don't even need to get all the upgrades to complete it. The hit box for criticals need to be improved on. sometimes the arrows are clearly whizzing through opponents heads and they aren't even getting hit.

hmm...

i actually thought there would be more archers available to buy o.o and it was a bit easy actually @_@. nice game though

Bug

If you freeze an enemy that's attacking your wall/fort, it will drain all of your health away untill the "frozen" enemy is killed. This has happened to me on multiple occasions. Not always, but enough to make it annoying.

Other than that it's a great game.

Good, but there are problems.

I thought it was a fun little game. I didn't have a problem aiming. I didn't see any glitches, but I think some arrows did go through enemies without damage. It was the right amount of difficulty.

Before anyone else says it's a glitch, it is possible to hit enemies in the lower right corner of the map. It's not a glitch. What I imagine most people don't realize is that you can move the archer using either WASD or the arrow keys. I will say that it is more difficult than usual to hit an enemy in that spot. Even by moving the archer as far back to the lower right corner as you can, critical shots are hard to get. To solve this, the archer should be allowed more rotation. The current angle limit makes lower shots much harder.

I've also noticed how you get gold in play. Critical shots are the most important element in the game. So accuracy is key. But I've noticed that you get more or less gold and whatever else (exp maybe or mana) depending on how many critical shots you got. There are a few other factors too, but this is the main one and it should be fixed. I shouldn't get less gold for a one shot kill than for a two shot kill. So think a bit more about the reward system. One shot kills should earn more than three shot kills.

I'm still not certain how you level up. Just guessed the more headshots the better. But seeing as this is how you get upgrade points, there should be more clarity.
On the subject of upgrading, this too is rather difficult. I had to play a second time to really get a feel for the upgrade system.
I think you should adopt an upgrade system of gradually increasing costs. For example; 1 point to learn the first spell, 2 points for the next level, 3 points for the next, etc. The mana upgrading was too difficult in that there were too many things to upgrade for too few points. Because of high point cost I didn't bother with two of the spells at all. Also, due to little spell point gain, I could not upgrade the mana itself very often. (i.e. mana capacity or mana regen) The skills upgrade wasn't too bad. For another version, I'd add accuracy to the upgrade list.

Shopping was okay. Again, it was hard to get gold. Given that, I could only use the last bow for one day. The only problem here was that I couldn't sell my better if that was the only bow I had. This causes you to keep one bow longer even if you could have bought a better one earlier by selling it. Since there are only 13 days, it would be a good idea change that in this game if possible.

There were some minor bugs too. The names of some bows weren't right. The last bow was called the ice bow even though it show fire. There were other names, but I can't remember them. Just do some more editing and you'll fix them.

As the game is now, it's okay. But it could be a bit longer. Maybe 17 days or 25 days. If you do make it longer, throw in some new enemies. Mayhaps some flying ones. Or really fast ones. I don't know. Have fun with it. There's a lot more you could do with this game. But maybe that's better save for a sequel.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Some instructions or a practice area would have been nice. The first time I played, I died a few times before I realized I could move. Perhaps a tutorial is in order. Just something to tell you want everything means and what you can do in play. I cannot stress enough that moving the archer was not apparent to me. I didn't know until I had to shoot bad guys in the bottom right corner of the map.
