Reviews for "Red Storm 2: Survival"

Meh.

The game itself is okay, normally I would give it a nine.
But.
1)I totally HATE the plot. If there was a list of generic enemies for computer games, #1 would be zombies, and #2 would be EVIL RUSSIAN SOVIET COMMUNIST BASTARDS!!!
Which is lame, and in most cases just latent russophobia or a sign of a creativity lack. -2 for that.
2)It looks totally like Robokill.Even the weapon system is the same.-2 for that too.
So.
9-4=5.
I understand that people will automatically rate my review as useless. Well, to hell with that. Why should I care? I've spoken.

Badim responds:

1. Russia is not USSR - its kinda 2 different countries.
2. RoboKill looks totally as RedStorm. But i like RedStorm better.

and we will continue to improve it ) that is another difference )

If I wanted to play robot kill, I would go ...

...and play robot kill. your technical skills are not in doubt ,you ppl know your stuff. I only wish you added more of yourselves in terms of gameplay, dont know try to make enemies a litle more smarter, when an enemy fires at you you fire back and move to find cover and wait and then fireback again, the enemy should do something similar, they just rush at you firing in the most suicidal way possible which isnt cool at all.
also let the enemy carry as many weapons as the player can, it would make things interesting.
very important a couple more musical scores, and the weapons found effect is kinda bland you should find better sounds .

also more interesting weapons, the rockets are ok but what about heats seekers, flamethrowers, incendiary rockets maybe , mines, emp rockets etc.

also boss fights throw some ace pilot robot at the player or some giant weapon system or a massive tank.

you guys need more games for references other than robot kill, what about mechanical commando? or 3000AD? those games even though follow similar mechanics , they tried to be original and ended up feeling like their own rather than a mere copy of another. think about it.

*ugh*

Way too many glitches. Nice try but not a game i like playing that has so many many glitches.

slow and boring, and buggy.

This game takes absolutely forever to get anywhere. While the better weapons are nice to look forward to, the process gets real old real fast. And it really doesn't help that when I come back to a single player campaign, somehow my exp level is significantly lower than when I left it. I know this because my level is now too low to use my currently equipped equipment. it's all darkened in my inventory. It's fine as long as I just leave it there. If I take off the equipment and try to re-equip it, it doesn't let me. The upgrades other than weaponry are rather boring. I only buy them because my level is not high enough to buy the better weapons. It would be better if I'm allowed to salvage from destroyed mechs.

Well...

I like mechs. I like heavily armed mechs. I like blowing things up with heavily armed mechs.

There were a few glitches I noticed, such as movement problem where my mech would continue walking over a ledge while I was trying to go elsewhere. Also one of the shops didn't work when I came back to it.
This of course reminds me a lot of the old school Smash TV game for Super Nintendo. The biggest problem I found with this game was that ALL the enemies shoot at you unerringly, and immediately collapse on your position, destroying you quickly at point blank range. If some were melee attackers, or AoE self-destructors, I think as a player you'd get more enjoyment and challenge out of utilizing the obstacles in the rooms, which I'm sure is the whole point. Currently in level two, a room has 10-15 mobile shooters, 4-6 static shooters, and a circling shooting leader (or three). You disappear quickly in the hail of incoming bullets and lasers. No fun at all.
Failing that, some in-fight power ups would spice it up, shields, nukes, AI helpers...something!
I didn't invest more than half an hour in this game, unlike some other unfortunate players it would seem. Perhaps I didn't get to see some of the advanced content, but I doubt it.

Badim responds:

tnx.
try campaign two - there should be some!
