Amazing Concept, Poor Gameplay
Let me say, I love games like this. Survival sci-fi RPG, if you want to get technical. This game set out to make a good example of the survival RPG, but three things failed that made this game too easy to be fun.
1. Upgrades are too easy to get/redundant. The base is almost stupid to upgrade, you don't need more than the first level of each one to keep it afloat even in day 10+ (without the worm). Buying anything but the maxed out armor/weapon (weapons you keep the pistol, then get an AR, then auto rocket) is stupid, as it's easy to get another weapon in one day, and getting a good weapon whenever possible isn't absolutely necessary (I played an entire game, up to the worm, with the pistol and no armor).
2. Leveling is flawed. First, you can't see the effect of anything *but* digging, and digging is by far the most important stat. You can easily max your character's personal armament by day 6 by immediately maxing digging, then just running to the edge of the map to get good resources.
3. Enemies are unforgiveably easy. Enemies don't come during the day (or rarely), and at night they physically cannot destroy the base. Any enemies you do run into are too slow to catch you, even with unleveled speed, or die with a few pistol shots (upgraded weapons only make a difference against night hordes and the worm).
Great game in concept, but the gameplay overall was so toned down that I don't see a reason to play it ever again - if I can beat it in under 5 minutes without any effort, why do it again? Games should have some sort of replay value - exploration, personal best, challenge... sure, you can go for a high score in survival mode, but that's more of personal endurance than game challenge - how long can you sit in front of your computer?
Heck, I think that you don't even need to be at your computer... hunger makes you lose health, but if you stuck in the base with a healing unit I think you can be invincible... maybe, just thinking there.
