Reviews for "Redshift"

A Proffesional Game, but...

It had good quality. Nice art, reasonable storyline, and pleasant gaming. Of course, only for the first 10 seconds was this experience entertaining. perhaps I'm exaggerating, but really, it was repetitious and boring.

The item descriptions were confusing, with fairly obscure antonyms and a style that was not pleasant to the eye. The background really did not change, and the whole game seemed muddled. For the average player, they would scratch their heads over "Gains 1 additional ATP per level." wtf is ATP??? Itwas not very user friendly, and thus made the player's first reaction be to look for some other game.

It was also too easy. There wasn't anything new to separate it from other games of the sideways shooter. Just mindless wave after wave, and the bosses at the end only spat lines of bullets at you, every now and then doing something interesting. You could tank your way through most barrages simply by shielding. The map format with its side missions and other things looked suspiciously like the one from "Mechanical Commando 2".

Overall, it was not a very exciting game.

Well..

I have been playing this for a couple of hours, and although I have to admit I did have fun, I also have to say that I agree with what others have said about the game being in lack. Here are a few points that I thought could use some improvement.

1. The inventory system. As so many people have said, and as I am going to be a bit blunt in saying. It sucks. Although i can guess what your abbreviations might stand for, the effects aren't always what I expect you should explain things. Or better yet just spell it out. As others have also said sort it into weapons and shields, as it stands it is a mess.

2. The recycle redeem system. Is way too random, sometimes you get back the same bloody things you recycled. You need to add a method to it. Take this idea for example. You could apply the properties of the recycled weapons/shields to what gets redeemed. In a tabbed weapon/sheild system this would work even better. Your naming system already suggests this could be applied. Allowing users to create custom weapons simply named by what went into them. Now that would be a good weapon upgrade system for a game like this. Either way the random crap you get back from the system as it stands sucks. If I can actively do things with my weapons inventory want to be able to make a step forward rather than backwards. Weather it is a recycle system or selling crap.

3. Also as others have said the vertical line of enemies gets old, fairly quickly. evasion becomes a snap. The bosses are uninteresting. It just really feels stagnant.

4. The conversations involve too much inimportant talk. Even though I generally enjoy a story I got way too boored with the story in this to care and found myself skipping it better than half the time. Because I knew it didn't matter to my game progress.

Hope you keep working on and refining the game.

Awesome, but..

A few things could be changed. The music wasn't that great, for a start, though you at least gave us the option to switch it off.

The weapons dropped were mostly poor, though I somehow managed to get one weapon (Focused Laser) which annihilated everything and far outclassed the rest. Sheilds of any decency were dropped rarely, and the recycle system made no sense. For example, I'd recycle EMP items and get a low class weapon.

Other than those things, it was good.

Alright

Alright, I love space shooter genre games like this, but I wasn't so pleased with this one. My first problem was that it seems to have gone the same route as Borderlands and just threw so many different items at you that early in the game I felt overwhelmed and never bothered to even look and recycle my items anymore because recycling would just give me the same old junk to be recycled again and there really wasn't a need for anything other than a reflective shield and double rocket launcher, both of which I got very early in the game. the controls and graphics were very nice but I think you could have done something more interesting with enemy lineup because the reflection shield made quick work of the fast shooting enemies (which I assume are supposed to be hard) and the long lines of spike-ships weren't difficult, just time consuming.

So, 7 for effort.

Awesome

Good side shooter game however...
1. It took WAY too long for levels to finish
2. WAY to long for the game to actually pick it(when you start getting lvl 4 weapons)
3. The waves were the samething over and over.
4.Bosses were extremely easy
5. The level up bonuses is pointless
6. Th game was really easy considering a max health will ALWAYS appear when your low on hp.

Either than that, the weapons were amazing and was just addicting to use them.
