Reviews for "Next Action Frog"

Unnecessarily old school

There's a reason why old school game died out. Because they sucked. At least common sense had it's hold when a limit on lives was left out. More of a trial and error puzzle game. Some games I've seen pull off trial and error well, like unfair platformer.

game issues

this is a pretty good game, but for me once i got to level 15 no matter how fast or slow i tried jumping across the mushroom springs they would never respawn fast enough enable to go back. so i was forced to quit after that.

Collision detection -_-"

The game was pretty fun and challenging, but was incredibly frustrating at times due to what seemed to be poor collision detection. These are just my observatoins might be wrong. Nice choice of music, cool storyline and what not.

May I suggest better backgrounds though. I found myself straining my eyes at some levels.

Feels Like and NES Game

This game feels like an Old School NES Game, complete with some of the most aggrivating flaws I've EVER seen in a game!

The story is simple, but works quite well, and it pulls you into this game, the story makes you want to play, making you think that this game might be good, and it's absolutely not at all good, but it's not a piece of shit either. It just has some glaring problems like most NES Games. The first few levels are pretty easy to beat, but then the game gets way too hard way too fast!

First I'll talk about the first mega frustrating level as far as I know, Follow The Flies. My GOD, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?! I assumed to follow them, but I just say an arrow, but I couldn't jump back because the mushrooms didn't come back fast enough! I played the stage for about 20 minutes until I looked up the online walkthrough, and what I found out was, you have to stand on the left of the platform and wait for a bird to come so you can get to the flag, and at that point I just sat there with my jaw hanging and asked myself out loud, "HOW WOULD ANYBODY KNOW TO DO THAT!?" I hate cryptic stages, it shouldn't reqire any more than 5minutes to figure out what to do!

Then we have the hit detection, if you want to jump on an enemy, most likely a bird, you have to be only touching the top pixels! If even a single pixel of your perimeter touches any of their side or bottom pixels, you die, that's BULL SHIT! It's REALLY a problem on the "Ride The Flock" Stage, where you have to jump on them at the perfect timing, if your even a pixel off, you die...FRUSTRATION!

But by far, the nail that seals the coffin, is what I call, "Stone Frogby and the Blocks" I lost count of how many times there are these small platforms where you have to jump from a platform outward and go back inward to land on one of the same size 2 tiles above it. The problem is that you have to be ABSOLUTELY 100% FUCK UP-FREE PIXEL PERFECT WITH FUDGE, SPRINKLES, AND A CHERRY ON TOP WITH YOUR ACCURACY! Literally, if even a single bit of your perimeter touches the perimeter of the Blocks, you get forced down as if Parker Frog suddenly became Stone Kirby, and more times than less it sends you shooting right down into a hole. It happens even if you touch the side, WHAT THE HELL, THAT DOESN'T EVEN FOLLOW THE LAWS OF PHYSICS! I aslo have problems jumping at these parts, it's only here that it happens, but I try to jump, and I just keep walking and fall to my death, I've tried really hard and concluded that it's IMPOSSIBLE to beat the game in less than 30 deaths! Maybe you want to, good luck, have fun playing with this horrid frustrating chainsaw to the nuts!

Decent game, difficult jumps

If you die a lot, don't be discouraged. I finally beat the game with 753 deaths. However, it was very frustrating because sometimes if you hit a block from the side, instead of your momentum carrying you to the top of it, the frog would warp to the bottom and fall to the bottom of the screen. It was a pretty good game, but it will definitely drive you insane trying to make the jumps that demand accuracy down to the pixel.
