Reviews for "Next Action Frog"

I hate this game!

Not really, but after finally completely it, I'm not sure if it was really worth the frustration (luckily I was able to control myself and didn't throw my monitor out the window). You warned people that it would be challenging, you might want to upgrade that to infuriating. It really is an enjoyable game so long as the player knows what they're getting themselves into and appreciates the challenge.

Don't listen to all the butthurts.

I loved this game. Its homage style to all retro games, being the plot, never wavered, and it was also on a noticeably different difficulty curve than other games today.
Most people didn't like simply because "it was too hard" and attributed it to things in the game that they believe were put in on accident, say, the blade hitbox that two dozen people below me have been whining about.
(THE GAME WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DIFFICULT)
Every level was a new challenge. They didn't drag on too long, nor were they so easy that I could play this in under five minutes.
I'll end my review by saying that, well, I liked it, and that my opinion certainly doesn't reflect the masses.

keybol responds:

Haha, thanks.

Frustrating and addictive.

I really don't know what to think. On one hand, it's hard as hell and requires a lot of planning and patience. But once I started playing, I was unable to stop. I finally got through the whole thing after dying over 1500 times, but that feeling I got, knowing I finally finished this little torture device, was well worth it.

There are a few little bugs (like when you touch a block from the side you go shooting downward), but overall it was fun and challenging. (Except for the last level, which almost made me break my computer)

Not bad

The game is not unbalanced as people say it is. It simply forces the user to employ a different strategy than other platform games require because of the mechanics involved. The concept was great and finishing a level was always very satisfying, though I do agree that the blade hitbox was too large. Otherwise it was fun, and I loved the ending. Great job, and keep up the retro.

Flawed controls and shotty hit detection

Next Action Frog's hit detection is decidedly flawed, making it far too easy to be killed even when you know what you're planning to do. There is so much potential, but 10 minutes later I found my fingers aching from attempt after attempt to jump around an obstacle just perfectly enough to not clip a bird or get knocked down because I wasn't far enough to the right. The heart's in the right place, but it's downright wonky to control.
