well, I was going to ask if you intended to look Don Hertzfeldt-y, and then I read your description. Haha.
I think you captured his look, but not his style. Your animation also appeared sort of awkward at points (example spinning room, when the roots grab him, etc.)
Good job, but I think you have potential to put together a better story.

I don't get it. Its not that I wasn't paying attention, or that im not familiar with plot twists... I really just don't get it at all. I guess your just going for a purely creepy atmosphere, you nailed that part. Confusion may follow ... Im suddenly craving twinkies.. I don't like twinkies.
A few notes.
I don't think you captured Hertzfeldt's style, especially as he hand draws everything, as opposed to doing an overlay over a loop of creased paper. It gives his characters a shifting quality which your work didn't quite duplicate. The choice of subtitles also took a lot away, hand draw letters would have been better. The story was also a bit weak, and the main character wasn't anything special, visually, or, well, as a character.
Otherwise, though, it was pretty good. The eye-bots were well designed, the scene with the door was well executed, especially the boxes being moved around. Overall, a fairly decent animation.
Rather disturbing
The animation is nice, the background music fits perfectly.. All in all it's a nice composition. But i dont understand, is it supposed to be so deviant, yet simple, or does it have some deeper meaning than some aliens gathering human organs for the black market or so..?
